AIM Jammer

An AIM Jammer (AIMジャマー, AIM Jamā^?) is a device which dissolves an esper's concentration in an attempt to weaken them.

Background

It dissolves an esper's concentration and intentionally leaves them with thoughts that make them more easily tracked by a Psychometer. It’ll weaken the esper a bit, but not enough to eliminate their power altogether. However in these conditions it is also possible for it to cause an esper's powers to go out of control. Powers that use complex calculations are especially prone to this. A normal esper would end up just being injured, but it would be extremely dangerous if this happened to more powerful espers. They are installed throughout the Reformatory as one of it's anti-esper equipment. In the Reformatory the jammers were seen as a number of thin wires stretched out between the almost 15 meter walls covering the entire facility. They emitted a special electromagnetic wave to diffusely reflect an esper’s AIM diffusion field causing the esper to interfere with his own power. They most likely needed a lot of power and processing power which is why Anti-Skill did not use them as they could only be used in a limited area.

Chronology

Battle Royale Arc

GROUP encountered AIM Jammers when they went into the Reformatory to stop BLOCK from getting to Musujime Awaki's companions. Accelerator felt a small pain in his temple as they approached the Reformatory because of the Jammers. When Awaki used her Move Point during her fight with Teshio her right leg ended up being stuck partially in the floor. She, however, was able to overcome this and knock out Teshio by hitting her with the blunt end of a metal stake.

Dragon(≠Angel) Arc

Director Shiokishi has the most advanced version of this installed at his base, and is theoretically capable of killing Accelerator and Awaki if they use their abilities within range. Accelerator destroyed the machine by throwing a car at it from afar.
