A Certain Iron Railway Bridge is a notable landmark of Academy City in the Toaru Majutsu no Index series.

Background

Located in the Seventh School District, this iron bridge is the first major Academy City landmark in Toaru Majutsu no Index. The bridge spans over a river, with a length of around 150 meters.

There is a railway line that runs on the riverbank beneath this bridge, and some cargo seems to be stored in the area.

Chronology

Level Upper Arc

Misaka Mikoto was attempting to gather information about the Level Upper when Kamijou Touma interfered. Touma misunderstood the situation and tried to save the delinquents from Mikoto's wrath, only to run away when he found out there were too many of them for him to handle. Mikoto caught up to Touma on this bridge after taking care of the delinquents. During this battle, Mikoto called down huge lightning strikes, rendering more than 80% of the city's electric appliances inert.

Sisters Arc

Misaka 9982 ran to the area beneath this bridge during the 9982nd Level 6 Shift experiment in order to lead Accelerator towards one of the mines she planted. During the conclusion of the 9982nd Level 6 Shift experiment, Mikoto fought and failed to defeat Accelerator in the area beneath this bridge.

This bridge was where Kamijou Touma found Misaka Mikoto after she attempted to manipulate the data from the Tree Diagram information reception center. Touma stopped Mikoto from heading to her death on this bridge, and took on Mikoto's lightning attacks before heading off to fight Accelerator.

Academy City Invasion Arc

Accelerator lied to Kamijou Touma when they talked over the phone, and told the latter to head to this bridge to meet Last Order. Touma hurried to this bridge and met Vento of the Front for the second time, witnessing the completion of the Imaginary Number District's expansion from here.

Homecoming Arc

Misaka Mikoto called Kamijou Touma to this location in order to give back the Gekota strap that Touma lost in the Arctic ocean.
