Asahara Yui (晨原夢衣, Asahara Yui^?) is a student of Tokiwadai Middle School who appears in Toaru Kagaku no Railgun. She was a member of the Hasekura Clique, as a first year student one year before the main story.

Appearance

Asahara has unruly long hair, tied into two large twintails. As a student of Tokiwadai, she wears the school's uniform.

Personality

Her personality is largely unknown, but she seemed to be in strong favor of retribution against enemies in the clique conflict. She feels insecure about her height being tall and envies her classmate, Satsuki Mahiru, being small and cute.

Background

Asahara's background is largely unknown, aside from the fact she was in her first year at Tokiwadai one year before the main story, and had likely joined the Hasekura Clique prior to the clique conflict that year. Before entering Tokiwadai, she went to the same elementary school as Satsuki Mahiru. She had not learned of Shin'enkouji Rurikakesu's position in Judgment prior to the Montgolfier raid.

Railgun Past Arc

She was with Amano Ayane's group when they unexpectedly ran into and used their abilities against Urui Aika, witnessing Mikoto's interference and her Railgun's in-action debut.

She was later present during the clique's meeting to discuss findings on the attacking culprit and the subsequent raid on Montgolfier. In October, she was present during the theatre fire incident.

Abilities

Asahara's Level 3 ability is Micro Shutter (粒子遮断（ミクロシャッター）, Ryūshi Shadan (Mikuroshattā)^?), which allows her to block the movement of particles. When her ability hits the face of opponent, it deprives senses of sight, smell, and taste. The exact nature and applications of this ability are not fully clear, but her use of it against Urui Aika appeared to involved some form of finger-based ignition.
