Ayles Bigant (エールズ＝ビッグアント, Ēruzu Bigguanto^?) is a character introduced in Shinyaku Toaru Majutsu no Index as a participant of the Natural Selector tournament. A person with no apparent special abilities, his existence is merely used to present the brutality of Kihara Enshuu.

Background

He was a participant of the Natural Selector tournament, but was forced into hiding in a small room in the plant factories due to attack on Baggage City by Academy City, as well as the fact that the outside is incredibly cold and the nearest town 130 kilometers away. In the small room he awaits salvation from the army or police.

It is unknown what weapon or ability he had.

He first appears in his hiding place, trembling as Kihara Enshuu tries to open the room where he has hidden, for there laid the keys she needs is in within. Ayles grabs a semi auto shotgun as a response, and would shoot anyone that comes through the door, although he has not loaded the bullets, making his efforts in vain. Seeing this, Kihara Enhuu decides to open the door the most Kihara-esque as possible, using a crane and one of the plant factories. Meanwhile, while trying to hear what's happening on the outside, Ayles begins panicking as he hears Enshuu going away, wanting to know what's going on more, Ayles comes near the door. After, scanning the room where he was with the Echo Filter, and determining that indeed someone is there. Enshuu uses her smartphone to remotely control the crane, and without warning crushes the room Ayles has been.

Ayles is crushed, but yet lives, his blood pouring into the ground. Enshuu notices this, and after grabbing the keys, takes the shotgun, loads it with bullets, and shoots him, ending his life.
