Benizome Jellyfish (ベニゾメ＝ゼリーフィッシュ, Benizome Zerīfisshu^?) is a character introduced in Souyaku Toaru Majutsu no Index.

Benizome is a woman in her early twenties with short black hair styled in a bob cut and red eyes. Her outfit consists of various Japanese, Western, and Chinese elements. She wears a gaudy cowboy hat with a jellyfish decoration on it and a red china dress with a lace material that exposes her stomach.

Benizome Jellyfish is an enthusiastic and ambitious paparazzo who is obsessed with snapping the photo of the century and furthering her career. She takes pride in her profession and claims that good and evil aren't what decide what information is sent into the world, but instead price tags and newsworthiness. Like most, Benizome is opposed to the dark side being dismantled and seeks to get an incriminating photo to blackmail the higher ups in Academy City.

However, Benizome is a deeply sadistic and morbid individual who loves the thrill of tearing down a person's life from the shadows with her camera. She is highly immoral and is perfectly willing to spread chaos if it will help her get her "miracle shot". She has a twisted sense of justice and is driven by the draw of the camera, believing that a single photograph is more earth shattering than a single bullet. To her, one scoop can break through walls that brute force cannot and enjoys it when the people she exposes are eventually driven to despair, even taking their lives as a result. She compares herself to a rich kid who shoplifts for fun.

She demonstrates a bold yet cautious and meticulous attitude in regards to her goals, being aware of the limited time she has and aims to get her "miracle shot" before her capture at the hands of Anti-Skill. Benizome is rather intelligent, analytical and insightful, able to deduce critical information about her opponents and exploit their weaknesses, as seen in her confrontations with Shirai Kuroko and Ladybird. She likes to make a situation worse in order to make her subjects more interesting and get an exiting shot, like provoking a hibernating bear or an undisturbed hornet nest to send them into a rage.

Benizome is very ruthless and callous, having no qualms with sacrificing others for the sake of her scoop, as she shot Takitsubo Rikou with a stun gun and used her as a decoy to draw Ladybird's attention so she could move to a safer location to get her photo, being uncaring of the fact that Rikou and Hamazura would die in the process, considering their deaths as necessary for her to set the world into motion. She also doesn't show any reservations with gunning down anybody if it will get her a great scoop, as seen when she shot and killed Perfect Film in cold blood. Benizome also doesn't care if the photos she takes are gruesome as long as she can get the highest price for it. She dislikes boring people who are uptight and pure, deeming them as inhuman and more artificial than a mannequin.

On December 29th, Benizome was one of the three Handcuffs survivors being transported to the Special Criminal Adult Correctional Facility on the armored prison train Overhunting, together with Hanatsuyu Youen and Rakuoka Houfu, briefly escaping when the train crashed at School District 7's South Station.

Benizome is a highly skilled markswoman and sniper, able to accurately shoot a person from a far distance. She is also quite adept in close quarters combat, as she managed to take down Hamazura instantly. She carries a silver duralumin case which contains a large amount of weapons and photography equipment, such as a shotgun, a stun gun, a large handgun and a single-lens reflex camera.
