An esper's lone advantage over a magician is that they can use their power instantly, a magician requires an incantation, at the very least. Other than that, magician's have every advantage. But speed is a big one. But what if a magician could bypass it? Set up spells in advance, create objects that allow for pure-though, instant magic, or something. Then it hit me. There are many kinds of magic, right? Each one has different rules, works by different logic, has different weakness. Anyone ever hear of King Solomon? He was renowned for his magical ablities, gained through binding demons and djinn into his service. So, what if another magician could do just that, and as long as the demon was bound to them, they had access to the demon's powers. So, everyone know about the Keys of Solomon? They were sigils he used to bind aformentioned demons and djinn. These demons had a wide range of powerful abilities, pyrokinesis, teleportation, shapeshifting(of others), seeing the past, present, and future, making people fall in love, creating familiars, making people barren, and tons of others. Imagine what he could do. In effect, he'd be a esper-magician hybrid, without the garentied backlash, as long as he had a strong will.
