City Macabre (シティマカーブル, Shitimakāburu^?) is a girl who appears in the original story of Toaru Majutsu no Index: Imaginary Fest.

Etymology

The adjective macabre (derived from the same in French) is used to refer to works of art and other things which have a grim, gruesome or ghastly nature, with macabre works often representing, emphasizing or personifying death and its symbols.

It is notably used in the French la danse macabre (also known in English as the Dance of the Dead), an allegorical representation of the ever-present and universal power of death, which features a skeletal personification of Death leading people from all walks of life in a dance to the grave.

City Macabre has red eyes and black hair tied in a long rear braid. Her black attire includes a veil, stockings, and a cut dress, with shoulder decorations resembling skeletal hands and a red cravat.

City Macabre controls a giant floating scythe and possesses high physical abilities. According to Kihara Kagun, she also has the ability to seemingly revive people from the dead through scientific means, being responsible for the "Return".
