Coronzon (コロンゾン Koronzon?) is a demon who appeared to Aleister Crowley during one of his experiments in the Egyptian desert and broke through his attempts at binding.[3]
As well as being as nearly an important figure in Aleister's life as Aiwass, Coronzon is also a very important yet hidden figure in the events of Toaru Majutsu no Index and is only revealed in the climax of Shinyaku Toaru Majutsu no Index Volume 18. Due to her role and actions, Coronzon can be considered the primary antagonist of the 2nd half of Shinyaku Toaru Majutsu no Index novels.
Etymology[]
Coronzon is a demon originating in writing by the 16th-century occultists Edward Kelley and John Dee, featured within the latter's system of Enochian magic. 'Coronzom' is the original manuscript spelling of John Dee, but it was later printed as 'Coronzon' by Meric Casaubon.
It came to be an important element within Aleister Crowley's system of Thelema in the 20th century, as the "dweller in the abyss", one of the final obstacles on an adept's journey who acts to destroy the ego. In Thelemic works, its name is spelt Choronzon so it can add up to 333 by Hebrew Gematria. In The Vision and the Voice, which explores the thirty Aethyrs (planes of existence in Enochian traditions), Choronzon is the entity associated with the tenth Aethyr, Zax (ザクス Zakusu?).
With Coronzon's assumed name, Lola is the first name of Coronzon's supposed host, Lola Zaza Crowley, Aleister's second daughter. Stuart comes from the House of Stuart, a dynasty which Mathers wished to restore.
Appearance[]
Coronzon's full, true appearance, if it has one, isn't known, though it is capable of manifesting a giant, sinister demonic face from the hair of its hosts.[4]
Its current host body, supposedly that of Lola Zaza Crowley, is a girl whose appearance is that of an eighteen year old (though she is actually much older),[4][5][6] with blue eyes and incredibly long blonde hair. Her hair is about 2.5 times her height,[5][7] usually folded over and bound behind her head with a gold clasp, but still reaching her hips.[4] She usually wears beige vestments.[5][4]
Personality[]
Though Lola Stuart is known as someone who kept her good and bad deeds balanced as if to keep the scales level, Coronzon only restricts herself in that manner to provide an explanation and calm the waves when she takes actions which seemed out of character, until she fulfills the contract with Mathers.[4]
Beneath the façade it presents to the world, Coronzon is a cruel and manipulative entity who guided events across a century in order to complete its contract, free itself from its bounds, and seize everything it wants for itself.[4]
As well as acting to fulfill its objective, Coronzon also acts to amuse itself, granting others' wishes for fun in the past while working to carry out it's contract. On apparently seizing control of Academy City, Coronzon saw it as an interesting toy which was worth waiting for.[4]
While seeking to bring Aleister to ruin as per its contract, Coronzon also took sadistic pleasure in doing so,[4] mocking him from afar when his plans were disrupted by the appearance of the World Rejecter,[8] and on revealing the truth, feeling joy in trampling over the father's dignity supposedly with his own daughter's body and taunting him with the supposed last cry for help from his daughter gave as her body was taken.[4] After revealing this and then apparently finishing Aleister off, Coronzon laughed and savored the delight of the deed enough to forget it's objective for a while.[4]
The demon sees itself as far above humans, seeing itself as a superior, intelligent life form and humans as common hip-thrusting animals.[9][10][11]
Coronzon uses different speech patterns while acting as Lola Stuart and its true self.[4]
In addition to her malevolent personality, Coronzon also seems to show a distorted concept of justice as shown by her conversations with Hamazura and Aleister, derived from her core nature of natural breakdown and dispersion. Her contempt for humanity arises primarily from her belief that humanity itself is bad which threatens the natural order of the world and life on the planet, and for this reason intends to exterminate the human race through the Ceremony of Mo Athair.[12]
Background[]
Around the time of the downfall of the Golden Dawn, the demon Coronzon was summoned by Samuel Liddell MacGregor Mathers and given one command; to pretend to have been summoned by Aleister Crowley and then guide him to ruin.[3][4]
In 1909, Coronzon appeared during Aleister's attempt to become one with the abyss in order to cross between sephira in the African desert, using a magic circle made from the blood of three doves. The demon broke through Aleister's attempts to bind it and temporarily hijacked his body as an avatar, but his apprentice Victor Neuburg fulfilled his function as a breaker in the ritual and the demon was driven away.[3][4][1] However, although it was halted, the contract wasn't actually annulled - a fact which would later come back to haunt Coronzon.[13]
After failing to hijack Aleister's body, Coronzon subsequently hid within a mountain of papyrus and travelled from northern Africa to England. Bound to follow the contract even after Mathers' death, Coronzon plotted Aleister's ruin and manipulated events while secretly and supposedly possessing the body of Aleister's second daughter Lola and acting as the Archbishop of Necessarius.[3][4]
During her time as Archbishop, Coronzon would sew herself into the United Kingdom and the 53 nations of the British Commonwealth, making it so that she couldn't be killed even with the use of Imagine Breaker.[14] Additionally, she also took measures to protect the grave of Mathers, whose corpse could be used to control her via the residual link from their contract.[15][16][17] A decoy was made in Westminster Abbey,[15][16] while the real grave in the graveyard of Edinburgh Castle was concealed by an anonymization barrier.[17][16][18][19] Coronzon wished to destroy the corpse but couldn't while the contract was still unfulfilled.[17]
At some point, Coronzon made Karasuma Fran into a secondary avatar.[20]
Chronology[]
Shinyaku Toaru Majutsu no Index[]
St. Germain Arc[]
- Main article: St. Germain Arc
Following the events instigated by St. Germain, she appears for the first time since the end of the War, apparently knowing of the movements of the true Gremlin. She is in St. George's Cathedral, noticing the confrontation of the Magic Gods against Aleister Crowley, and notes that now Aleister is not even attempting to hide who he is. She then begins the next step of her plan against Aleister and the Magic Gods as she wants to fully control both sides' actions, while also thinking about how a certain other piece on the board might do next would affect the outcome.[21]
Magic God Invasion Arc[]
- Main article: Magic God Invasion Arc
After Kamisato Kakeru 'exiles' the remaining Magic Gods with World Rejecter, Coronzon, who knew of World Rejecter's arrival when even Aleister was unaware, mockingly laughs at how the rails formed by his plans and preparations have been bent by the single outside element. As she then asks what he'll do now, she claims the peak of darkness doesn't suit him and that the title of 'cannibal' or 'greatest eccentric of the 20th century' fits much better.[22]
Salome Arc[]
- Main article: Salome Arc
Following Kihara Yuiitsu's theft of the World Rejecter and Aleister appearing outside the Windowless Building to confront her, Coronzon was noticed spying on him from afar and after being threatened with being cursed to death then and there, confirmed something.[23]
Aleister Crowley Arc[]
- Main article: Aleister Crowley Arc
Following his defeat against Kamijou Touma, having snuck into the city disguised as part of the recovery team sent to extract the Tsuchimikados and Fran, Coronzon revealed itself to Aleister and attacked him to fulfill it's contract with Mathers. After seemingly finishing him off and taking his body as a new vessel, Coronzon believed itself to have cut its ties to Mathers and was free to act as it wished, but soon learned that Aleister had diffused into over a billion of his potential selves which he had previously gathered within his body.[4]
Processor Suit Arc[]
- Main article: Processor Suit Arc
Immediately afterwards, Aleister launched the Windowless Building into space in order to delay Coronzon and buy some time. Coronzon attempted to escape before the spacecraft left the atmosphere but was prevented from doing so by Mina Mathers and then Aiwass.[9] As the Windowless Building reached space, Aiwass faced Coronzon in battle, despite being hampered by the lack of an avatar through which to wield its full power.[9] While Coronzon was fighting Aiwass with her primary avatar, it used it's secondary avatar back on Earth, A. O. Francisca (Karasuma Fran), in an attempt to seize control of Academy City's Bank in the form of the Processor Suit.[24][25][11][20] During the course of these events, it learned how Aiwass had actually saved Aleister's daughter Lilith.[26]
Early on December 12th, Aleister excised Coronzon from Fran using a Spiritual Tripping gamma knife.[27] At the same time, having defeated Aiwass, she turned the Windowless Building around and crashed it onto Academy City. However it found that Aiwass had intentionally lost and made it so that Coronzon would be shifted to the 'new world', finding itself a toy to the exiled Magic Gods.[10] Coronzon eventually managed to return to the regular world, bringing back Nephthys and Niang-Niang with it, only to find that Aleister had infected Academy City's systems with a virus and initiated an evacuation of its residents, making the city useless to Coronzon.[11] Aleister then declared war against the demon, declaring that he would take his daughter back.[11]
Coronzon Arc[]

Immediately afterwards, Aleister used the Banner of the West to temporarily seal Coronzon into Academy City, buying time to seek out the roots the demon had placed in the United Kingdom and the rest of the British Commonwealth.[11][14]
Later, when Aleister encountered the grimoire reproductions of the Golden Dawn in London, she was forced to unlock Academy City's technology and fire an orbital laser in order to escape death at the hands of the reproduced Mathers. As the empty Academy City came back to life, Coronzon escaped from the seal, and after fashioning herself a pair of wings from the 'contents' of spare parts from the Anti-Art Attachment, set off for the United Kingdom on a ballistic trajectory.[28]
She landed in the graveyard of Edinburgh Castle, just as Aleister had finished his preparations to use the corpse of her summoner and its residual link against her. Using the corpse, Aleister halted Coronzon and commanded it to leave his daughter's body, but the demon made use of her previous deception to trick and stab Aleister, dealing a wound which would kill her if left untreated.[17]
Coronzon then exploited the opening from 'completing' her contract by 'killing' Aleister to burn Mathers' corpse, ensuring it could no longer be used against her. As she rejoiced in her freedom and further mocked Aleister, Touma prepared to fight the demon.[17]

On December 26th, as Aleister was killing the executives at R&C Occultics HQ, the still-impotent Coronzon desperately pleaded for someone to fight back, expressing disgust at Aleister's counter-remark.[29]
New Year's Arc[]
- Main article: New Year's Arc
On December 3rd, when Aleister was dealt a blow by Touma freeing Anna Sprengel from the seal Anna Kingsford placed on her and ran off with her, after Aleister's secret efforts to help him, Coronzon laughed in mockery and delight at the look of his face.[30]
On December 4th, when Aleister invoked Coronzon's name and power against Mut Thebes alongside Anna Kingsford, the demon cackled at the taboo Aleister was breaking in willingly using her, asking if he felt like naming himself the wickest man in the world again.[31] Later on December 5th, when Aleister faced "Christian Rosencreutz", he called upon Coronzon again, with the demon starting to laugh manically. Aleister used some of Coronzon's magic, along with support from Aiwass, before being overpowered by "CRC".[32]
Abilities[]
As a demon, Coronzon is capable of being summoned through magic and will remain in the world until exorcised. It is bound to follow the commands of those who have formed a contract with it, even when the contractor has died.[4] It was apparently capable of breaking Aleister Crowley's attempts to bind it, though it isn't certain whether it was due to its own abilities or the fact it was already bound to a contract with Mathers.[3][4] Coronzon is also described as not being contained within the existing Qliphoth.[3] Its numerical value is 333 and its nature is dispersion.[9][25][10][33]
Over time, using its position, Coronzon has devised measures and embedded them into the 53 countries of the British Commonwealth to prevent it from being killed. According to Aleister, even Imagine Breaker wouldn't be able to destroy it so long as those roots were in place.[11][14]
Comments from the Knight Leader during the Battle of Folkestone, suggest that in terms of openly displayed capabilities while concealing her true identity and full power, she was probably stronger than Kanzaki Kaori.[34]
Avatar[]
Being an energy form, Coronzon requires an avatar (
Coronzon is capable of possessing both objects, having hid in a mountain of papyrus to travel between Africa and England, and people, such as its supposed host, Lola Zaza Crowley. It is also capable of possessing multiple vessels at once, as shown when Coronzon took one of Aleister's fallen bodies as an additional avatar as well as with A. O. Francisca (Karasuma Fran).[4] In the case of Karasuma Fran, the demon's control was rooted in three pigeon blood (ピジョン・ブラッド Pijon Buraddo?) rubies implanted into Fran's head, forming a 'face' and symbolizing the magic circle made through the blood of three pigeons/doves used to summon Coronzon.[20] Different avatars have different roles and levels of authority and precedence, with Coronzon's familiarity and control over its primary avatar being greater than its secondary avatars.[20] Its control over Fran was weaker than for Lola, enough for Fran to subconsciously leave a hint through the use of the name A. O. Francisca.[20]
Given the youthful appearance of Coronzon's primary avatar despite her age,[5][6][4] it can be assumed that the demon is either capable of halting its host's aging or altering their appearance. It is also capable of enhancing an avatar's strength by pouring a power similar-but-distinct-to Telesma into the pathways for her life force. Described as like an instant version of a Shakti master, it is an easy way to draw out power but is still no more than a forced emulation. The method is not suited for long-term use and risks burning out the life force pathways, potentially killing the avatar.[35] Coronzon's presence in its primary avatar protects the body such that it would not burn up in the atmosphere while travelling on a ballistic trajectory or survive in the vacuum of space.[9][24][28]
Hair[]
Coronzon is capable of manipulating the hair of its hosts and manifest a giant, sinister demonic face from it.[4] This ability appears to follow an old witch tradition concerning the devil or demons residing in women's hair.[4][28] Coronzon has been shown using hair to fatally crush part of one's body, to burrow inside a target body and take control of it,[4] and using it as a medium to set off explosions which cause damage to selected targets.[36][25] It can also gather power from moonlight.[14] In the case of her primary host, the hair is 2.5 times her height and has a curse line built through it.[9][28]
Coronzon can use her hair to form meaningful characters and magical symbols in the air, much like a ribbon in rhythmic gymnastics or cursive writing on a parchment contract, in conjunction with its illumination. She is also capable of utilizing existing magic symbols by having her hair connect with them. With the Anti-Art Attachment's spare parts, after slipping her hair through the cracks in the armor like nematodes and contacting the magical symbols and sigils hidden within them, reading the internal structure, Coronzon was able to fashion herself a pair of giant, bat-like wings from the 'contents' of the A.A.A. rather than its mechanical structure.[28] These wings were capable of carrying Coronzon on a ballistic trajectory from Japan to Scotland.[28][17]
Enochian Magic[]
Being the entity associated with the tenth Aethyr ZAX, Coronzon is proficient in the use of Enochian Magic. Her primary uses of it are her Aethyr Avatars (アイティエール・アバター?), false angel images made by her hair and based on the entities associated with the thirty Aethyrs, and the Secret Calls.[12] Both of these are from the Aeon of Horus.[37]
Identified Aethyr Avatars which Coronzon has used include 1: LIL,[38] 2: ARN,[39] 7: DEO,[40] 8: ZID[39] 9: ZIP,[38] 13: ZIM,[41][39] 15: OXO,[42] 20: KHR,[38] 21: ASP,[39] 25: VTI,[39] and 26: DES.[43]
Out of the eighteen Secret Calls, Coronzon has made use of the First,[37] Third,[40] Sixth,[44] and Seventh Calls.[40] She has also used the additional Secret and Unrecorded Call.[45] When using the Secret Calls, Coronzon begins her incantation with the title of the call itself followed by an invoked name and element (e.g. "The Sixth Call: thy name is RZIONR, fire of fire.").[44][40] When using a call involving a pure element (e.g. fire of fire, wind of fire), she follows with the command "Obey the words that rule the tablet of the same color and reveal thy pure power before me!!".[44][40] When using a call involving an impure element (e.g. water of wind), she instead follows with the command "Insert element within element and obey me as an element of this world!!".[40]
# | Call | Invoked Name(s) | Tablet | Element(s) | Effects |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | The First Call | Whole tablet of unification | Tablet of unification | Colorless and nameless element | Used to invoke from the tablet of unification which contains the other four tablets.[37]
When Coronzon used the First Call against Aleister in the Queen Britannia's temple, she invoked "the whole tablet of unification, the colorless and nameless element", followed by the command "Obey the series of letters on the tablet of unification and reveal thy nature before me!!".[37] Not even involving one of the four elements in their purest forms and apparently intended to break through any real and practical defenses to vaporize the target, its regular effects weren't fully seen as Aleister interfered with the spell by using three rubies embedded in the temple's floor to distort the flow of power, twisting the invisible impact and causing Coronzon's finger to bleed.[37] |
3 | The Third Call | IDOIGO | Wind tablet | Wind of wind | Used to invoke from the wind tablet, it is the sole call used for wind of wind, and the first for the other sub-elements of the wind tablet, followed by the Seventh, Eighth or Ninth Call.
When Coronzon used the Third Call against Aleister in the Queen Britannia's temple, it sent a slicing gust of wind towards Aleister's neck.[40] Aleister managed to avoid being hit by the wind blade by letting her staff be sliced and using it to forcibly divert the attack.[40] |
6 | The Sixth Call | RZIONR | Fire tablet | Fire of fire | Used to invoke from the fire tablet, it is the sole call used for fire of fire, and the first for the other sub-elements of the fire tablet, followed by the Sixteenth, Seventeenth or Eighteenth Call.
When Coronzon used the Sixth Call against Niang-Niang, flames burst from empty air, swirling in a vortex and gathering in her right hand.[44] After their initial clash, Coronzon supplementing it with a follow-up incantation invoking the Fire Tablet itself.[44] The scattered and fading embers then gathered together again, with the curtain of flames doubling in size and becoming a fiery tornado.[44] |
7 | The Seventh Call | LILACZA | Wind tablet | Water of wind | Used to invoke water of wind following the Third Call.[40]
When Coronzon used the Seventh Call in battle with Aleister in the Queen Britannia's temple, a cold mist surrounded the wind blade created by the Third Call and it twisted around with a motion like a snake or a scorpion's tail, thrusting down towards its target.[40] A quick adaptation involving mixing an impurity into the previously pure element and aimed at Lilith instead of Aleister, it was countered by the claws of Mina Mather's magic.[40] |
19 | The Secret and Unrecorded Call | ********* | N/A (possibly the Aethyrs) | Unknown | A nineteenth call, separate from the other eighteen calls. There is disagreement among researchers as to whether only angels can see the text, if it points to all thirty Aethyrs and what the call's effects are.[45]
When Coronzon used the Secret and Unrecorded Call, she spoke a name which couldn't be pronounced by humans from the demonic face on her hair. The rest of the incantation was of a similar nature to the name. When the magic was sent to the unlocked Anti-Art Attachment for a surprise attack from behind, one of the weapon arms emitted a rainbow-colored beam of light to sever Kamijou Touma's right arm at the shoulder. This action also inadvertently broke the seal on the entity lurking behind the Imagine Breaker.[45] |
Magick[]
Coronzon makes use of Aleister Crowley's own system of Magic, Magick, which is based within the Aeon of Horus.[46][37][45] During the attack on the Queen Britannia, she made use of Magick-based interpretations for a magical barrage using the amplified Honours of Scotland and in the last stage of the battle,[47] used her knowledge and capability with the format to send one of her attacks through the Anti-Art Attachment's external link while the unit was released from Aleister and not locked down.[45]
Magick: Flaming_Sword[]
Coronzon's most prominent and most powerful usage of this style is her Magick: Flaming_Sword,[46][38][37][45] an immensely destructive spell derived from the symbol of the Flaming Sword, which represents the flow of power descending the Sephiroth, from Keter to Malkuth, passing through each of the ten Sephirah in a zigzag shape like a bolt of lightning (and as such, is also referred to as the Lightning Flash).[46][42][37] In the Golden Dawn's traditions, it symbolizes the sword placed alongside the Tetragrammaton to protect the top three Sephirah after the original sin and is described by Aleister Crowley as a mass of energy which severs the bonds of the target, separating and cutting in order to protect.[42][37]
When using this spell, Coronzon begins by stating her identity; as a demon not from the Qliphoth but dwelling behind the Sephiroth in the same Abyss as Da'at. She then invokes Nuit of Resurrection (蘇生のヌイト Sosei no Nuito?), the infinitely-expanding circle, in her right hand, and Hadit of Vengeance (復讐のハディト Fukushū no Hadito?), the infinitely-contracted point, in her left hand, in order to release an attack from the Circle of Ra-Hoor-Khuit (ラー=ホール=クイトの円 Rā Hōru Kuito no En?) formed by the two. At the same time, she holds her dominant left hand forward and pulls her right hand back, assuming a pose for wielding a rapier. Finally, Coronzon unleashes the spell by invoking it by name, calling for it to manifest through the descent of the Sephirah and bathe the target in its power.[46][38][37][45]
Described as an attack rivalling that of a Magic God,[46][37] the Magick: Flaming_Sword possesses immense destructive power.[46][37] As power descending the Sephiroth gains colors and attributes as it goes down the various pathways before finally transforming into any number of substances in the surface world, the pure energy rushing towards the target is also rapidly transforming into physical matter after having been brought down like a bolt of lightning, apparently acting in a manner similar to a self-forging warhead.[37] When used in the Queen Britannia's temple, it was said to be easily being capable of tearing it open from within and killing everyone inside if its target dodged, and even if the direct explosion missed, the shockwave may have been enough to obliterate a human body.[37] With Coronzon supported by her primary avatar, the spell was capable of breaking through Imagine Breaker's defenses and grievously injuring Kamijou Touma, reducing him to a bloody mess, such that he would have died without Aleister's intervention.[46][38][37][45] While Coronzon was temporarily forced out of her physical vessel and reduced to an exposed soul, it was not able to overcome Imagine Breaker and was negated just like most other spells.[48][45] Lilith Crowley was able to intercept and redirect the avatar-supported spell through the use of a miracle,[37] while Accelerator was able to redirect the flow of power with assistance from Qliphah Puzzle 545.[38]
The Magick: Flaming_Sword has been noted as fitting and useful to Coronzon, being the demon who dwells in the Sephiroth's Abyss and bars passage to the top three Sephirah, managing ascent and descent through the tree, and as the embodiment of dispersion and natural breakdown, obstructs and seeks to tear apart the bonds of the world.[37] However, because of its immense power, it results in a brief period of vulnerability for Coronzon immediately after its release, as she has to focus on controlling the recoil and her physical body's movement is subsequently restricted.[37]
Other Abilities[]
Coronzon is capable of using pitch black flames.[17] It is also capable of a bestial roar that can shake the body of a normal person and snuff out the life force circulating within it like a candle's flame.[9] She can also use the vibration of her voice to destroy things such as the curse line in strands of her hair, which she had severed with a karate chop after someone grasped it to limit her movements at a critical moment.[9]
While Aleister was in possession of Coronzon's power and using the demon's power against "CRC", he was able to produce an invisible wall capable of deflecting a flame blast from CRC's lamp and a deadly wind from the flapping of the demon's wings which could everything it touched to blacken and rot.[32]
Tools and Creations[]
Aside from her own abilities, Coronzon has also created a number of spiritual items and artificial beings for own purposes. She also had access to various tools as the Archbishop of Necessarius, and possessed authority to lock down many of the Anglican Church's spiritual items, temples and other magical facilities.[49]
Among the spiritual items she can use is the Sword of Damocles (ダモクレスの剣 Damokuresu no Ken?). Based on the sword which was hung over Damocles as he was allowed to sit on the throne by his king to illustrate the perils that came with kingship, the legend was apparently recreated as a test of courage for royalty and nobility to prove their worth. When used to impale Aleister's heart after he was knocked out by Kamijou Touma, light exploded from the wound and blew Touma's group nearby out of the hole in the Windowless Building.[4]
Coronzon has created a variety of anti-Crowley defenses which were intended to be used against him should he return to British soil:
Name | Type | Details |
---|---|---|
Divine Mixtures | Spiritual Items | A group of capital defense spiritual items, derived from twisted interpretations of Egyptian Mythology by the ancient Greeks, based on pairs of Egyptian and Greek deities; Ra-Zeus, Osiris-Hades, Tefnut-Artemis, Wadjet-Leto and Isis-Demeter. Transforming when connected to the ley lines, they convert the local landscape into a European interpretation of Egypt and are meant to display the power associated with their namesakes, with their true power being the ability to convert mutual intolerance into offensive power when fused with a host.[50][51][52][53][54][33][55][56][57] |
Qliphah Puzzle 545 | Artificial Demon | An artificial demon derived from the Qliphoth, symbolizing lies, misinformation, the madness of war and dangerous knowledge.[53] Created exclusively as a control and possession specialist,[53][58] the demon was intended to be used in conjunction with the Divine Mixtures, in order to aggravate and maintain the mutual intolerance needed for them to display their true power.[15] |
Golden Dawn recreations | Grimoire-based recreations | Coronzon secretly recreated deceased members of the original Golden Dawn and some of its later iterations through the application of Tarot-based grimoires.[59][28]
The grimoires were comprised of Tarot cards, secretly produced by Coronzon in the British Museum's repair room through selected materials. A special charcoal made from red wine and iron oxide and kneaded erasers made from breadcrumbs were used to make the rough sketches on the paper base, chosen to apply symbols of flesh and blood to the card. These sketches were colored with pigments chosen based on the personal traits of the individual to be recreated, found in things like bibliomancy, and the cards were reinforced with a thin layer of the wax used for cursed dolls.[59][28][60] Coronzon holds a special easel, used in their construction, which she can use to check the status of the recreations.[28] |
Relationships[]
Aleister Crowley[]
Coronzon doesn't have a particularly high view of Aleister, looking down on him and mocking him for his failures.[22][4][24][10][11] After ambushing Aleister, the demon took great pleasure in supposedly using his daughter's body to trample on the father's dignity and taunting him with her last words.[4] She also bears considerable contempt for him as an example of the entities which refuse to break down that she hates.[40]
Aleister had displayed hostility towards Lola Stuart before she revealed herself as Coronzon,[23] but after learning what the demon had supposedly done to his daughter, Aleister immediately focused his efforts towards its complete eradication.[4][11]
Aiwass[]
Aiwass has displayed a strong contempt for Coronzon, referring to the demon by various derogatory terms during their battle. Coronzon has similar feelings towards Aiwass.[9][24][25][26][10][11]
Samuel Liddell MacGregor Mathers[]
Coronzon has considerable disdain for its summoner, Mathers, though it acknowledges his skill and took on its assumed surname as a special service to him.[4]

Trivia[]
- Coronzon is one of the foreshadowed concepts which were introduced in A Certain March 201st Volume, released in 2006.[61]
Quotes[]
- "And just as I hoped, Aleister raised an interesting toy. It was worth waiting this long." (アレイスターも狙い通りに面白いオモチャを育ててくれた。ここまで待った甲斐があったってものだ Areisutā mo nerai-dōri ni omoshiroi omocha o sodatete kureta. Koko made matta kai ga attatte monoda.?)[4]
- "My toys belong to me, so I choose where to light the fuse and let them burn.”[24]
- "My numerical value is 333 and my nature is dispersion. I prevent the true bonding of all the world’s laws and I bring endless chaos and destruction. My name is Coronzon. Now learn firsthand just what that name means!!"[10]
- "All things in the world exist within the cycle of life and death. I exist to remove the clogs and repair the circulation. I am Coronzon. Surely you know how wicked it is for something to pathetically cling to its survival as an individual and grow fat as it continues to devour everything around it."[...]"It might look like the flow of time mercilessly wears down all things, but there is far too much exceptional salvation in this world: Imagine Breaker, the Magic Gods, the original grimoires, resurrected Lilith, Aiwass who resurrected her…and me, Great Demon Coronzon."[...]"My job is to fix the circulation. And that creates the next age. Once, the majority of the Sephirah were under attack. If the Second Adam had not atoned with blood, the world would not have lasted this long. And the critical clogs are all born of knowledge. I am the Great Demon who protects the Abyss, that hidden division of the Sephiroth. Whatever my purpose is, I have undeniably been stained. ...Thus, I will destroy it all. Myself and the entire Sephiroth that contains me are no exceptions. Partial destruction would be meaningless. If anything remains and an eternal distortion is born from that, then it will all happen again. I will eliminate the 10 spheres, the 22 pathways, and the hidden 11th symbol. Collisions between phases? Sparks and spray? You cannot save anyone if you only treat those symptoms. All of the fundamental clogs must be removed. All so we can pass the baton to whoever comes next."[40]
