Enjou Kasumi (炎乗香炭, Enjou Kasumi^?) is a student of Tokiwadai Middle School who appears in Toaru Kagaku no Railgun. She was a member of the Hasekura Clique, one year before the main story.

Appearance

Enjou has light black hair, tied into a shoulder length pigtail with light colored ribbon. She wears the Tokiwadai Middle School uniform. She carries multiple ribbons underneath her clothing.

Personality

Enjou has a temper, illustrated by how she was unable to hold her anger and nearly using her ability when someone cursed her family. However, Hasekura noted that she dislikes her temper and often feels bad after such outbursts.

Background

Enjou is a descendant of a local gentry family that had fallen in status a long time ago but made a comeback in the recent years due to a stoke of luck. Enjou's father bought a watch for her when she got accepted to the Tokiwadai Middle School.

Railgun Past Arc

At 8AM one day in summer, Enjou revealed to her friend that she lost her watch which her father brought for getting accepted to the Tokiwadai. She and her family were cursed by Kazan'in because she didn't say hello to Kazan'in. Enjou was unable to hold her anger and used her esper ability to threaten Kazan'in, though her friend stopped her. Later in that day, she was suspected of being a perpetrator for attacking Kazan'in, given that Kazan'in was attacked by ribbons and she was the only one in Tokiwadai with that kind of power. She denied the allegations, saying she was with a friend at the time.

After Montgolfier was identified as the culprit behind the attacks that instigated and aggravated the clique conflict, Enjou joined the rest of the Hasekura clique, with later reinforcements from the Mikagami and Sha cliques, for a raid on the company's headquarters, and was involved in the subsequent battle with Montgolfier's operatives and their prototype weapons, clashing with an imitation of her power. During the raid, Mibuki saved her from a sudden flame attack by Attachment Dark Matter.

During her art appreciation elective in October, Enjou visited a theatre in School District 9 with a group of Tokiwadai students including members of the Hasekura and Mikagami cliques. Before the performance, Kazan'in belittled her again, with Asato Kisa standing in front of her and trading verbal blows with Kazan'in.

During the graduation ceremony at the start of Tokiwadai's current year, Enjou had a final word with the graduating Kazan'in, their mutual friends in attendance.

Abilities

Enjou's ribbon control ability

Enjou is a Level 3 esper whose ability involves ribbon control (リボン操作, Ribon Sōsa^?), specifically control of rope-like textiles. She is able to manipulate multiple ribbons from underneath her clothing. She can also increase the strength of the material, but the strength is inverse proportional to the surface area. Enjou is the only Tokiwadai student with this power.

• In the magazine release, her hair had darker shades. It was changed in Volume 17, with subsequent chapters released after the volume following suit.
