Frau Halveria (フラウ＝ハルベリア, Furau Haruberia^?) is a magician who was studying the Ceremony of Ba Moun.

Personality

At the time of her encounter with Angelene, Frau Halveria was self-centered and desperate to escape from the curse of the Ceremony of Ba Moun, having sacrificed many innocents so that she could temporarily escape. Her wish at the time she began her studies was apparently for no one else to have to suffer from a strange curse.

Background

At some point in the recent past, Frau Halveria was studying Voodoo, with a particular focus on the Ceremony of Ba Moun, but was unable to control the spell.

Threatened by the curse, she made use of a delivery app to repeatedly arrange for young bike delivery workers to be sacrificed to the demon so she could temporarily escape from it (as well as hoping that someone else might be able to deal with it), with the workers receiving a package and on delivering it to an abandoned building, being devoured by the demon emerging from the package, leaving only a bike and a pool of blood behind.

The Guild apparently played an indirect role in Frau Halveria's incident, one of several they had secretly influenced and instigated as decoys for their own plan.

Having heard about the disappearances from Isabella Theism and discovered Angelene's secret side-job, doing bike deliveries for snack funds, Agnese Sanctis and Lucia had her participate in a sting operation. Posing as a restaurant manager, Frau Halveria gave Angelene a spherical backpack and remained at the restaurant as Angelene was transporting the deadly cargo. To her horror, Angelene returned to the restaurant and broke through the door, with the demon in pursuit.

With the demon locked onto them, Frau Halveria fled with Angelene to the kitchen, forming barriers to slow their pursuer down. She attempted to mix a drug in the kitchen to induce a state of pseudo-death in a final gamble. Having confessed about what she was doing and listening to Angelene's words, she had a change of heart and attempted to ensure Angelene's survival while accepting her own death. However, Isabella was able to deal with the demon through use of life-like fake corpses modelled after Frau Halveria, leading it to tear itself apart. Isabella then handed Frau Halveria a mop to clean up her own corpses.

Abilities

Being the subject of her research, Frau Halveria is capable of performing the Ceremony of Ba Moun (バ・ムーンの儀式, Ba Mūn no Gishiki^?), though she is not able to control it or completely escape from its curse. Being described as the worst and most wicked spell in Voodoo, the Ceremony of Ba Moun allows the caster to bind a priority contract with a demon who will grant their every wish. In exchange, they must annually sacrifice someone they care for and once they run out, the demon will devour them. The demon involved manifests with a collection of large spider-like legs and cries like a baby in distress.

Aside from the Ceremony of Ba Moun, she also uses Voodoo in a spell which forms an invisible barrier between her and a threat, crossing herself with her fingers and invoking Baron Samedi (バロン＝サムディ, Baron Samudi^?) - the death god standing at the crossroads. The barrier was able to temporarily block the demon from the Ceremony of Ba Moun, but was not able to stop it for long.

She can also mix Voodoo drugs, such as a mixture that can heal small wounds, such as bleeding fingertips from wooden splinters. Invoking the name of Loko Atisou (ロコ＝アティスー, Roko Atisū^?), loa of medicine and healing, she rubs a paste, which looks like it is made from different meats and vegetables, into the wounds while muttering words under her breath, which causes bleeding to stop and the wounds to vanish. Once the wounds have closed, she thanks the Mystère for guiding to the path of life leading out of the labyrinth of death, then orders them to leave the place in the name of Brave Ghede (ブラーヴ＝ゲデ, Burāvu Gede^?). She can also mix a drug to temporarily place a person in a state of pseudo-death.
