Fuyukawa Motoi (冬川基?) is a Japanese-born illustrator. He is the artist for the Toaru Kagaku no Railgun manga series, authored by Kamachi Kazuma.
Background[]
As a member of the doujin circle House of KARSEA, he has drawn several adult doujins for them, most prominently, he draws titles from the magazine Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh, such as Azumanga Daioh and, famously, Yotsubato!. Ogino Kentarou later found his work and later had him debut as the artist for the Toaru Kagaku no Railgun manga in Dengeki Daioh.[1]
He was apparently one of the candidates for being the artist, and was told to draw character designs and scenes for them. He was later surprised after he was chosen, later got to meet both Kamachi Kazuma and Miki Kazuma.[1]
Art Style[]
Compared to Haimura Kiyotaka and Kogino Chuuya, his style in drawing characters makes them look taller. The author states on how Fuyukawa makes a variety of unique expression as amazing[1].
According to Fuyukawa himself, he has difficulty with drawing technology,[1] and has trouble with drawing explosions, electricity, and other effects, due to not working on such things before.[2]
