Green Mart as seen in the anime.

Green Mart is a convenience store that is located in Academy City[1][2][3] and Japan.[4] It sells a variety of items like food stuffs, beverages and magazines, and has other branches in the city as well. It is notable as one of the targets of the graviton bombings.[5]

Chronology[edit | edit source]

Toaru Kagaku no Railgun[edit | edit source]

Level Upper Arc[edit | edit source]

The store first appears in episode 4 of the Toaru Kagaku no Railgun anime, Misaka Mikoto is seen reading a magazine off the rack and later contemplates about the urban legends concerning around a person who can negate other people's abilities. Mikoto then meets Kamijou Touma just outside the store.[1]

In both the anime and manga, it becomes a target for Kaitabi Hatsuya, the graviton bomber. Here, Judgment members detected an acceleration of gravitons as a sign of an impending graviton explosion, a bomb was hidden in a doll and exploded which severely injures a member of Judgment after protecting a girl from an explosion.[6][5]

In the anime adaptation, Index used the GPS function in Touma's phone to plot the location of the nearest portal. Two branch of the store is showed in the map.[4]

Academy City Invasion Arc[edit | edit source]

In the anime adaptation, another branch of the store is featured during Vento of the Front's invasion of Academy City. Here, Misaka Mikoto is seen inside of the store, totally unaware of the chaos that is happening around the city, and later gets a call from Shirai Kuroko telling Mikoto to cover for her dorm supervisor that she would late due to Judgment business, however, much to her chagrin, Mikoto says to Kuroko that she is in a convenience store and not at the Tokiwadai Dormitory, which leads to Kuroko to believe that she is on a date with a certain high school student.[2]

DRAGON Arc[edit | edit source]

In the anime adaptation, another branch of the store is shown in the background. Here, Tsuchimikado Motoharu was strolling through School District 7 on the way home from school, accompanied by Maika on her cleaning robot. A comment relating to the maids handing out flyers on the street earned him a punch to the back from his sister, who was irritated at what she didn't consider to be proper, professional maids. As Maika was getting annoyed, a passing limo sounded its horns, flashed its lights and turned a corner down a side road. After making excuses so he'd be able to get away from Maika, Tsuchimikado followed the limo and on finding Accelerator already inside, asked what their job was.[3]
