Template:PORT Character Infobox Leader (リーダー, Rīdā^?) (real name unknown) is a character introduced in Toaru Kagaku no Accelerator, a girl in a flu mask who leads Scavenger.^[1]^[2]^[3]^[4]^[5]^[6]

Appearance

She has short brown hair and wears a white flu mask with two dark crossed hands printed on it.^[7] She also wears a short-sleeved shirt, shorts, mismatched black tights and a backpack.^[8]

Personality

As the leader of the Scavengers, she reins in the oftentimes the excitable and vicious nature of her colleagues. She has a habit of recruiting anyone who looks promising or she has taken a liking to,^[6] as attested by her trying to recruit Accelerator despite being his enemies.

Background

Leader was abused by a teacher in her past, and as such has a strong resentment for them and "teacher's pets" as well, leading to her belief that eliminating them is justice. This is a trait shared with all the members of Scavenger.^[6]

Chronology

Toaru Kagaku no Accelerator

When Rizou Nakimoto realizes that DA has become a problem, he contacts the Scavenger mediator to eliminate the group. The mediator wakes them up and announces them through an intercom that they have a job to do.^[1]

Dream Ranker Arc

Leader participated in Scavenger's operation to track down the robotic doppelganger of Kuriba Ryouko, in order to improve Scavenger's situation after their previous failure. After locating the doppelganger,^[9] they proceeded to the Shinasame University DNA Map Analysis Laboratory, only to find the doppelganger gone, though Leader was confident it wouldn't escape her eye. They caught up with the doppelganger after she confronted the original Kuriba Ryouko. Once the doppelganger was captured, she sent Seike after the original Ryouko to verify that they hadn't switched, before taunting the doppelganger over her appearance and possible desire to be a real human. In response, the doppelganger partially broke free and grabbed Leader's arm before snapping it. In considerable pain, Leader was spared from having her eye plucked out when Naru's attack smashed the doppelganger open.^[10]

Abilities

Leader's esper ability is Predator (鳥瞰把握 (プレダター) , Chōkan Hāku (Puredatā)^?, lit. "Bird's-eye Grasp"), which allows her to look for a target, apparently with no regard for distance.^[8] When she uses Predator, she covers one of her eyes, and as the ability activates she sees numerous eye shapes in the sky. When the target is found, the eyes move toward that direction.^[8] Effectiveness of the ability is reduced during the day, however.^[6]
