India (インド Indo?), also known as Republic of India, is a country located on the southern coast of Asia. It is the seventh largest country by area and the second largest country by population (surpassed by China).
Background[]
A number of magic cabals are present in India, making use of Hindu Mythology as the basis for their magic. One of these, Gate of the Gods Come from the Heavens, is known to have carried out an attack on a gym in New Delhi two years before the story's first year.[1]
One of the spiritual items used by Necessarius to control its marine prisons around the world is located in southern India. As part of the agreement to use a ruin left behind by the East India Company for the Cape of Good Hope, 30% of the satellites made in the United Kingdom are launched from Indian launch pads. The European Union also makes use of Indian launch pads a fair bit.[2]

Toaru Majutsu no Index Light Novel Volume SS2[]

On the Second Friday of October, Misaka 12053 was one of the Sisters sent to the Gemstone Mining research organizations around the world. She was sent to Ahmednagar, India, at the Blueprint of the Gods Headquarters, to destroy the facilities and rescue the gemstone. During her periodic progress report, she mentioned she had just destroyed Blocks A, D, and L of the facility.[3]
Toaru Majutsu no Index SS: Kanzaki[]

Kanzaki Kaori, the Jeans Shop Owner and the Tour Guide visited the Cape of Good Hope in India when one of Necessarius's marine prison is hijacked and set to run aground near Nagercoil. A battle occurred on the beach and the sea when Kanzaki clashed with another magician from Necessarius who intended to just kill everyone on the prison, prisoner or not.[2]
World War III[]

When World War III breaks out, the display by Academy City leads India and China to side with them over Russia.[4][5] During the construction of the Star of Bethlehem, a pipe organ was pulled from St. Joseph Church.[5]
