Kihara Heikin (木原平均 Kihara Heikin?) is a posthumous character introduced in Souyaku Toaru Majutsu no Index.[1][2]
Etymology[]
The kanji for Heikin translates to multiple concepts related to mathematics and science. It can be translated to "average" and "mean" (as in statistics) or the scientific concept of equilibrium.

According to Kihara Noukan, Heikin had a bad habit of not separating his work and his personal life, something which he had considered taking a psychological approach.[2]
Background[]
At some point prior to his death, Noukan sternly warned Heikin that the techniques he used for a stakeout at work would qualify as stalking if done for personal reasons.[2] Heikin did not heed the warning and ended up stalking a member of Rakuoka Houfu's family, resulting in his death at their hands, with the Rakuokas perfectly disposing of the body afterwards.[1][2][3]
