Kogino Chuuya (近木野中哉 Kogino Chūya?) is the pen name used by the artist of the Toaru Majutsu no Index manga, an adaptation of the Toaru Majutsu no Index light novels authored by Kamachi Kazuma.

Chuuya seems as enigmatic as Kamachi himself, only using a Corgi as an avatar, and which he apparently owns himself. Moreover, his pen name is apparently taken from the words "obsessed with Corgi!" (コギーに夢中や! Kogī ni Muchūya?).

He became the mangaka for Toaru Majutsu no Index in Gangan after the project already began, and was chosen after making a submission for the manga magazine.[1] He lives in the Okayama,[1] and enjoys going outside on his days off.[2]

Art StyleEdit

In the earlier volumes of the manga the most apparent part of his artstyle is the use of real world locations for backgrounds,[1] and then filtered for use in the manga. This later disappeared by volume 5 of the manga, where both the background and character art has been greatly improved.

Many parts of the anime adaptation of Toaru Majutsu no Index were taken from his illustrations of scenes in the manga, and later, after the anime has overtaken the manga, Chuuya took parts from the anime to enhance the manga's scenes.
