The anime adaptation of the Toaru Majutsu no Index (とある魔術の禁書目録(インデックス) Toaru Majutsu no Indekkusu?, lit., "A Certain Magical Index") light novel series is a production of J.C. Staff. It is directed by Nishikiori Hiroshi with series composition by Akahoshi Masanao, music by Iuchi Maiko, character design by Tanaka Yuichi and art and sound direction by Ebina Yasunori. The story follows the plot of the light novels which tells about the adventures of Kamijou Touma, starting from his first encounter with a mysterious girl named Index and the forces of science and magic in a highly-technological metropolis called Academy City.

First Season (Toaru Majutsu no Index, 2008-2009)

Kamijou Touma, a Level 0 high school student in the Power Curriculum Program in Academy City, is a boy who seems to possess no recognizable ability. His only notable traits is his right hand, which has the power to dispel both psychic and magical power and cause his extreme misfortune. After meeting a nun known as Index and the Level 5 esper Misaka Mikoto, Touma becomes deeply involved with both magicians and Academy City, resulting in many battles against powerful practitioners of magic and Academy City's strongest Level 5, Accelerator.

After his involvement with various magical affairs involving Necessarius, Kamijou Touma finds himself in a bigger mess than before. Due to unexpected circumstances he becomes a changing force in the conflict between magic and science when he thwarts many plans organized by the Roman Catholic Church, culminating with the direct actions of its most powerful magical group, God's Right Seat.

The third season of Toaru Majutsu no Index was announced in the Dengeki Bunko Autumn Festival 2017 as part of the Toaru Project.[1] It is slated to air on October 5, 2018.[2][3]
