London (ロンドン Rondon?) is the capital and largest city of England and the United Kingdom as a whole.

Principles[]

The city is separated into administrative divisions known as boroughs, which themselves contain several districts. Two areas within London have city status themselves, the City of Westminster, occupying much of central Greater London and home to many of the sites associated with London, and the City of London, the land formerly occupied by the old London prior to the city's expansion. The Thames, the longest river in England, runs through the city.

London Underground[]

Main article: London Underground

The London Underground, nicknamed the Tube, is one of the oldest subway systems in the world,[1] acting as a public rapid transit system for Greater London.

As it has been modified often and spreads out over the city like a spider web, there are apparently a lot of abandoned lines and stations which not even the maintenance workers know out. Some of these have been adapted by the Anglicans for their own purpose, made into vaults and training grounds,[1] though the underground labyrinth formerly used to test new recruits for Necessarius was decommissioned as it was too dangerous and too many people kept dying there.[2][3]

Magic Side[]

As the capital city of a country with a large magical foundation, London is the home of many magical facilities, persons and factions.

Infrastructure[]

A fair number of important magic-related sites in the city are famous or important buildings, public institutions or tourist attractions, and as such have both an open public side and a hidden magic side. Examples include Westminster Abbey, the British Museum and the Tower of London.[4][5][6]

There are various magical defensive systems in place both in and around London in order to protect the capital. One of these defensive formations, intended to defend the capital from invaders, is the England-Londinium Fortress, which extends 88km out from London into the countryside. The three outer layers consist of long walls of dried grass in the country fields, manipulated by crop circles and then ignited to produce walls of fire.[7] The innermost layer, the complex triple-quadruple final barrier, manifests as a dome enclosing the capital.[7][8][9] It is generated by a core located in the Tower of London.[10]

As there are many churches in London, there are also many bell towers in the city. These can be rung according to a magical procedure to perform a large-scale magical attack over a wide area and crush magicians hiding in the city.[11][12]

Aside from the three main magic side factions of the United Kingdom (the Royals, the Knights and the Church), there are also various magic cabals and independent magicians operating in London.[11][13] At the end of the 19th century, it was home to the Golden Dawn, the world's greatest magic cabal.[14] In the present day, there are Golden-style cabals based in the city, the largest of which being the Dawn-Colored Sunlight.[13]

Background[]

London's history extends back two millennia, with the Roman settlement of Londinium as its first iteration, established in 47 AD.

Curtana Original - Overload

Birds-eye view as the Curtana overloads

Following the overloading of the Curtana Original at 2:30 AM on October 18th, while there wasn't much physical damage to the capital, many of the spiritual items across the city were affected by the magical explosion, with likely half of the spiritual items in Buckingham Palace rendered useless and three small churches destroyed. Additionally, a dense concentration of Telesma covered London, such that using magic would risk causing an explosion which would envelop the city, forcing both sides to delay hostilities until it dispersed to a safe level.[20][21]
