The Miracle of 88 Memorial (88の奇蹟記念の碑?) is a commemorative monument donated by Orbit Portal Company dedicated to the 88 survivors of the Orion incident, the Miracle of 88.[1][2]

Background[edit | edit source]

It is located in a seemingly abandoned paved plot that once served as a runway in School District 23. The obelisk now stands at the location where the Spaceplane Orion made an emergency landing on the district.[1]

The obelisk is made out of black stone, on its front are Orbit Portal Company's dedication to the survivors of the incident,[1] and uses part of a quote from Blaise Pascal's Pensées.

Full quote:

"Time heals griefs and quarrels, for we change and are no longer the same persons. Neither the offender nor the offended are any more themselves. It is like a nation which we have provoked, but meet again after two generations. They are still Frenchmen, but not the same."
―Blaise Pascal[src]
