While working as a band, the member of Sadistic Dolls wore red and black leather outfits resembling cheer costumes, with a tank top and miniskirt, thick collar, belts around their wrists and thigh high leather boots. They also wore heavy makeup and piercings, with their hair dyed red and black.[1] While working at the cafe in Moe Bells, they wore deep blue maid outfits.[4][5]

The band's only known song, new at the time of their demise, was Color of the Whip (何色の鞭 Naniiro no Muchi?, lit. "What color whip").[1][2][5]

The exact point at which Sadistic Dolls was formed isn't known, but the group were fairly new as a band of musicians and killers around the end of August one year before the main story. The backgrounds of the individual members are largely unknown, although "Meg" was apparently the leader who gathered the band and "Amamo" previously worked as a bouncer at a live music club.[2] They made use of a dark side 'bond builder' to quickly strengthen the bonds within their team.[2][3]

Prior to their encounter with Item, there were at least three cases where criminals were eliminated which Sadistic Dolls were likely involved in, which Item later identified. "Revenge for Hire", a surface level dark side group, burned to death in a building fire, with acetylene detected in the burnt remains. A dozen executives from a corrupt company selling phony diet products were found stuffed into the truck of an abandoned car, with a scrapyard employee who likely witnessed the crime silenced through a slit throat. Finally, a money launderer who apparently operated through real money trading in online games, trading electronic money for rare items, and worked for sketcy companies and organizations, was found dead under mysterious circumstances, with his wife abducted and dying after Anti-Skill failed to rescue the hostage.[2]

Dark Justice Arc[]

Main article: Dark Justice Arc

Early on August 29th, Sadistic Dolls broke into the Clone Complex, which was occupied by the cult Ark of the Electronic Sea and assassinated the cult's leader Dike Goddess Salvation, beating Item to their mutual target. Escaping out a hole burned in the side of the building, they left Item to deal with the cult's troops, alerted by a loud chord they played over the speakers.[1] Unknown to both groups, the cult leader had killed Judgment member Minamioki Sarusa shortly beforehand, resulting in them being marked as involved in the incident and targets for elimination by Judgment Branch 000.[8] Around the time of the infiltration, at 1AM, the band's song Color of the Whip was being played as part of Akasaka Minako's AM radio party.[1]

Later that morning, Item made the decision to eliminate Sadistic Dolls, gathering publicly available information at a karaoke booth before raiding the bond builder the band had previously used.[2][3] They then ran into "Meg", completely by chance, at the maid cafe the group worked at in Moe Bells.[4] After Meg led Item into the kitchen, obstensibly to avoid getting customers caught up in their fight but actually a trap with little regard for bystanders, a battle ensued between the two groups.[5] Item soon took the advantage and the girls of Sadistic Dolls were successively killed until Meg was the only one left alive.[5] Escaping from the kitchen,[5][6] Meg headed for an elevator shaft with Mugino in pursuit, but was killed by Amekawa Souji of the Frees, who had been hired to gather information for the execution squad but decided to execute the target themselves for a previous murder of a scrapyard employee.[6][7][9][8]

A couple of days later, Item's liaison and Kihara Noukan found the one responsible for the Sadistic Dolls dead, punished by the Number Six, the Dark Side's Bane.[10]
