School District 7 (第七学区 Dai Nana Gakku?) is a large school district near the center of Academy City. Primarily used for middle and high school institutions,[1] the district is the primary setting of Toaru Majutsu no Index whenever Academy City is in focus. Nearly all named Science side characters reside in the district, specifically the protagonists of the stories.
Principles[]
The Windowless Building of Academy City, one of the most recognizable aspects of the School District.
As stated it primarily focuses on middle school and high school institutions, despite this, the district has several features that separate it from the other districts. For one thing, the district contains the mysterious base of the Academy City's Chairman, the Windowless Building, as well as the special area for prestigious all-girl schools, School Garden.[1]

Moreover, what makes the district unique is that despite its main feature for use of middle school and high school students, it is not solely composed of the things that fits its purpose. For example, School District 15 focuses mostly on leisure and mass communication facilities, and is mostly composed of it, it has a park, but it is defined and known by its primary purpose. School District 7, though its primary purpose being middle and high school education is known for many other things. In fact, one could say that the district is the melting pot of concepts that appear in several districts. It contains an underground complex, which School District 22 is famous for, schools like Tokiwadai Middle School that can rival the unique schools of School District 18, and though not as fashionable or up to date,[1] has facilities of leisure such as the Seventh Mist. Finally, what makes the district unique is that it is contains the base of the city's leader, Aleister Crowley, the Windowless Building alone marks the district as having several unique qualities to it. It would not be out-of-place to consider the District 7 as its own city.

On Christmas Day, the district was the site of the third part of Misaka Mikoto and Shokuhou Misaki's battle against Anna Sprengel, as she made her way towards Heaven Canceller's Hospital where Kamijou Touma was hospitalized after she infected him with St. Germain, as well as Touma's eventual battle with Anna.[3][4][5][6]

On December 29th, the district was the site of certain activities relating to the Winter Cleaning movement.[9] Around 5.20PM, there was a collision at the South Station between the stationary Delivery Go Round and the prison train Overhunting.[10] A number of the events following the crash and subsequent prisoner escape took place in the district.[11][12] Around the same time, Aleister Crowley and Kihara Noukan visited the former site of the Windowless Building to access the information network as part of preparations for actions against Anna Sprengel.[13]
New Year's Arc[]

On January 4th, after a flight over School District 5 in the midst of martial law, Kamijou Touma, Anna Sprengel and Aradia landed in and passed through the district in their hijacked Predator Octopus en route to School District 15.[14]
