Shinyaku Toaru Majutsu no Index Light Novel Volume 08 is the eighth installment of the Shinyaku Toaru Majutsu no Index series, released on September 10th 2013.[1] It details the combined efforts of the three great Churches and their allies to stop Gremlin once and for all.
Prior to its release, a 50-page preview was released in Dengeki, coinciding with the Toaru Kaki no Campaign even for the franchise.

Gremlin has been manipulating the entire world from the shadows. That organization that brings together science and magic had caused several threats: the terror attacks in Hawaii, the experiment in Baggage City, stealing an immortal existence sleeping in Academy City. And all of that had a reason: Gungnir.
To stop the creation of that divine spear which is the Magic God Othinus's ultimate objective, Ollerus, the man who missed out on becoming a magic god, has disguised himself as the lightning god Thor, has infiltrated Gremlin's base in Sargasso, and has begun investigating.
