Shrink Drink
The Shrink Drink (矮小液体 Waishō Ekitai?) is a spiritual item intended by the Bridge Builders Cabal to execute rogue Transcendents. Created with the assistance of Alice Anotherbible and containing a portion of her power, derived from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, it is wielded by the cabal's executioner, Mut Thebes.[1][2]
Appearance[]
The Shrink Drink takes the form of a 150cm long spear, with a glass spearhead containing a fluorescent pink liquid.[1][3] The white shaft is a little under twice as long as the spearhead, with a gold ring around the connection to the spearhead and a heart-shaped gold tip at the other end.[3] The words "Drink Me." are engraved in pink on the shaft.[1][3]
Principles[]
The Shrink Drink is derived from a drink in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland,[1] which shrank down the person who drank it. Alice Anotherbible had a hand in the Shrink Drink's creation,[4][2] and it contains a portion of her power, that of a girl capable of killing normal Transcendents in a single blow.[2][5][6]
In the story, the drink physically shrank the imbiber, and while it doesn't physically shrink its targets, the Shrink Drink is intended to similarly diminish a Transcendent by weakening them and taking away their power, eventually destroying them, in a similar manner to the Fairy spell used on Othinus.[1][2] The spear and its contents are specialized for use against Transcendents and does not do much damage against other targets.[2][7]
Once the spear's tip hits the Transcendent, the poison contained within is injected into them,[2][8] and its effects can apparently only be cancelled by Alice herself,[8] continuing to function even if Alice herself dies.[9][5] It apparently identifies a target via their blood, as Heaven Canceller deduced and was subsequently able to stop its attack (which he was thinking of as a curse[10][11]) by temporarily changing a victim's entire blood, causing it to lose its target and cease functioning.[10][11][12]
The spears are around 150cm long, held near the center of their shaft and not reaching much further than a sword, meant to be thrown as javelins.[1] Even if the spears don't directly hit their target, the transparent tips can shatter against a hard surface (such as when striking the ground after being rained down at supersonic speed), scattering glass shards and chemical smoke produced from the toxic liquid, which can limit a target's movements when the spears are thrown in bulk and cover an area with these effects.[2]
As a tool intended to execute traitors to the Bridge Builders Cabal, the Shrink Drinks are lent to Mut Thebes, the Transcendent specializing in punishment and execution, to carry out the death sentence.[1] Mut Thebes carries them in a binder over her shoulder, with the spears bundled together in an X-shape.[1][2] This binder can be shrunk, along with the spears inside it, to the size of a matchbox.[13]

New Year's Arc[]

On January 2nd, when Alice Anotherbible invited Kamijou Touma to the cabal's newly established consulate in School District 12, as Trismegistus mentioned the cabal's intent to execute Anna Sprengel for her betrayal, Mut Thebes was present and had a bundle of Shrink Drink spears with her.[1]
On January 3rd, shortly after Touma (who was opposed to unilateral execution) and Aradia (who had been convinced to aid him) met with Anna Sprengel and were surrounded by the Predator Octopuses, Mut Thebes rained down Shrink Drink spears from the sky, which the group evaded by activating a smoke generator on a hacked Predator Octopus and slipping inside it.[2]
On January 4th, after a couple of clashes,[14][13][15] Mut Thebes managed to hit Anna Sprengel with one of the spears and administer the Shrink Drink, though Aradia revealed to Touma the possibility of convincing Alice to cancel the effects before it was too late, one which they would pursue after Mut Thebes's defeat.[8][16][9]
Touma took one of the remaining Shrink Drinks with him as they left to find Alice, only to eventually find her dead at the hands of the newly-summoned Christian Rosencreutz (actually Johann Valentin Andreae).[9][17][6] When Touma rushed at him, "CRC" first destroyed the Shrink Drink with a backhand swat,[17] which was later revealed to be because he feared it, being a fake playing a role like the Transcendents.[6] While Anna Sprengel was still on the brink of death throughout January 5th due to the effects of the Shrink Drink, she was eventually saved by Heaven Canceller, who used a dialysis-related method to temporarily change Anna's blood type, causing the Shrink Drink to lose its target.[5][18][10][11][12]
