- Touma's task of consoling Anna is compared to stacking rocks at the Sai-no-Kawara - a riverbed in the netherworld in Japanese Buddhist mythology, where the deceased souls of children who have died at an early age are tasked with stacking rocks, with demons obstructing their work.[2]
