GT4[1] - Origins, R&C Occultics

Space Engage was founded at some point after the launch failure of the Uranus III, a multi-stage rocket of a state-run program, and the death of Melzabeth Grocery's husband, with the aim of developing a safe and effective alternative to older forms of space travel, and to accomplish the dream of Melzabeth and her late husband for their daughter Helcalia to have a wedding in space (hence the company's name).[2] The approach that Space Engage chose involved the use of mass drivers mounted on airborne space launch platforms, resulting in the development of the Logistic Hornets.[3][2]

However in December of the story's first year, R&C Occultics gained control over the company in order to acquire the Logistic Hornets. Not interested in space travel or the company's original intentions, R&C Occultics instead used the Logistic Hornets as the cornerstone of their worldwide drone-based delivery system, as well as a meteorological weapon.[4][3][2] Many of the original start-up employees left the company as a result, but Melzabeth remained in order to be in a position to secretly work to undermine R&C Occultics and ultimately prevent their technology for being misused.[2]

Los Angeles Arc[]

Main article: Los Angeles Arc

By December 26th, Melzabeth had developed malware to disable the Logistic Hornets and had been cooperating with people from Academy City, however as Anglican and Academy City forces launched Operation Overlord Revenge to destroy R&C Occultics HQ in Los Angeles, the Logistic Hornets were used to manipulate meteorological conditions and enable Citrinitas's sand to swallow up the city's population, Melzabeth among them.[1]

Although Melzabeth's rebellion failed, she had caught the interest of Anna Sprengel, with Citrinitas using her image in the events which followed in an attempt to frame her for the mass disappearance, so that she would be broken back into their service and left with no place other than R&C Occultics.[1] At the same time, having met Helcalia, Kamijou Touma followed Melzabeth's trail and fought to prevent their family bond and dream from being trampled further.[1] The Logistic Hornets were utilized extensively during these events,[1] but would ultimately reject a command based on what they had acquired from Melzabeth, despite the virus never being used.[1]

With the defeat of Citrinitas and the destruction of R&C Occultics,[1] Melzabeth would be freed and reunited with her daughter, while the Logistic Hornets were neutralized and landed.[5] The fate of Space Engage after the incident is currently unknown.

Trivia[]

  • The company's name was mistranslated to "Emptiness Marriage" when Touma used his Transla-Pen.[2]
