Toaru Majutsu no Index[]
Academy City Arc[]
Academy City is the head of the Science Side, a city in Tokyo, mostly populated by students; Espers ranging in power Level from 0 to 5. Kamijou Touma is a Level 0 who will fight to protect those in danger in spite of his extremely bad luck. He possesses Imagine Breaker; a power residing in his right hand which negates all supernatural phenomena, whether Magical or Scientific in nature. One day he finds a girl named Index Librorum Prohibitorum on his balcony. She claims to be a Magician with Perfect Memory, who has memorized 103,000 Grimoires. He immediately gets a desire to defend her from her apparent pursuers.
With Index now living under his roof and his memory lost due to the incident that brought them together, Touma is now entangled in Magic Side affairs along with the Science Side troubles he's surrounded by. Incidents on both sides occur and Touma seems to always find himself caught in the middle, having to protect others.
These incidents effect the lives of many and build a group around him of those most directly effected, changing their lives forever. Unfortunately, they also grant him and Academy City many dangerous and powerful enemies. All while the city itself, seems to be laying the groundwork for something big that could effect the entire world.
Index Arc[]
The Index Arc is the first major story arc introduced in the Toaru Majutsu no Index series. The arc introduces Kamijou Touma, a young man with the mysterious power of the Imagine Breaker, who meets a mysterious nun by the name of Index which pulls him into the mysterious world of magic. This arc occurs near the end of the Level Upper Arc in the Toaru Kagaku no Railgun sidestory.

Deep Blood Arc[]
The Deep Blood Arc is a story arc that occurs in the Toaru Majutsu no Index storyline. It introduces Himegami Aisa and her ability "Deep Blood", which is central to the plans of Aureolus Izzard, a powerful alchemist and former partner of Index.

Sisters Arc[]
The Sisters Arc is a major story arc in the Toaru Majutsu no Index universe. Originally only lasting a single volume in the light novels, it is later expanded greatly in the Toaru Kagaku no Railgun manga. It is also the first story arc to be focused on the Science Side.
The arc focuses on the ordeals of Misaka Mikoto after discovering the existence of Misaka clones that are being used in the Level 6 Shift, an experiment where they are killed as so Accelerator, the number one Level 5 esper, can achieve Level 6. When Touma happens upon the experiments and learns of Mikoto's despair, it sets off a chains of events that will pit the weakest and strongest espers of Academy City against each other.

Angel Fall Arc[]
Angel Fall Arc is a story arc that occurs in the Toaru Majutsu no Index storyline. It concerns with the activation of a world-wide spell known as Angel Fall, a spell that switches the elements, as well as the appearances of persons around the world. The most notable affect of Angel Fall is the expulsion of an angel to earth. Touma, on a forced vacation with his family, is roped into hunting the spell's caster alongside his friend Tsuchimikado Motoharu and Necessarius agent Kanzaki Kaori.

Three Stories Arc[]
The Three Stories Arc is a story arc that occurs in the Toaru Majutsu no Index storyline. The arc focuses on three separate events that happen on August 31; two stories focus on Touma dealing with magicians while the other focuses on Accelerator dealing with the aftermath of the Level 6 Shift, which would mark the first time Accelerator is featured as a protagonist to the science side.

Kazakiri Hyouka Arc[]
The Kazakiri Hyouka Arc is a story arc in the Toaru Majutsu no Index storyline. In this arc, Index befriends Kazakiri Hyouka, a physical manifestation of all espers AIM diffusion fields in Academy City and the key of the Imaginary Number District. However the two of them become targets of a magician seeking to ignite a war between the Magic and Science sides.

Orsola Aquinas Rescue Arc[]
The Orsola Aquinas Rescue Arc is a major story arc in the Toaru Majutsu no Index storyline. It focuses on the rescue of the title character of the arc, Orsola Aquinas, a member of the Roman Catholic Church who has found a way to decipher the mysterious Book of the Law, a grimoire that is said to hold great power. The arc marks the first time Touma battles against the Roman Catholic Church, as well as the first time that two different Christian sects – Anglican Church (specifically Necessarius) and the Roman Catholic Church (specifically Agnese Forces) – come into conflict.

Tree Diagram Remnant Arc[]
The Tree Diagram Remnant Arc is a story arc in Toaru Majutsu no Index. Focusing mostly on the point-of-view of Judgment member Shirai Kuroko, it deals with an important piece of the recently destroyed Tree Diagram, the Remnant, being stolen by Musujime Awaki, a fellow teleporter, as well as Misaka Mikoto and her clones' struggle to stop the experiment from happening once again.

Daihasei Festival Arc (Index)[]
The Daihasei Festival Arc is a story arc in Toaru Majutsu no Index. It is September 19th, and the time has come for Academy City's annual Daihasei Festival, a sporting event that pits ability users from across the various schools of the city against one another in a series of contests. For Kamijou Touma, this year's festivities have come with a twist as he finds himself having to foil a plot that could wreck the fragile balance between the worlds of science and magic.

Versus Roman Catholic Church Arc[]
After a few incidents that have led to their embarrassment, the Roman Catholic Church now plans to destroy Academy City, a major cog in their past embarrassments. Their secret organization; God's Right Seat, stand as a threat to the head of the Science Side and has the Russian Orthodox Church on their side. As the conflict escalates, war becomes imminent between Science and Magic.
Each member of God's Right Seat has their own motivations, but the end goal is the same, Academy City's destruction. However, the group's leader, Fiamma of the Right, has a goal that can throw the laws of the entire world into chaos and the war is just merely the beginning.
As all of this unfolds, chaos erupts in the underworld of the city as the many factions of Academy City's Dark Side begin to move in reaction to the recent events.
The building chaos engulfs Touma's life, making him the target of God's Right Seat and revealing his memory loss to his allies. The only way for him to escape the conflict is to defeat God's Right Seat and make peace with one of the most powerful religious organizations in the world. Which isn't as easy as it sounds.
La Regina del Mare Adriatico Arc[]
La Regina del Mare Adriatico Arc or The Queen of the Adriatic Sea Arc is a story arc in Toaru Majutsu no Index. The arc is concerned with Kamijou Touma mysteriously winning a trip to Northern Italy despite his misfortune. Here, he is suddenly caught in another conspiracy by the Roman Catholic Church, this time regarding the mobilization of an ancient weapon against Venice – The Queen of the Adriatic Sea.

Academy City Invasion Arc[]
The Academy City Invasion Arc is a major story arc in Toaru Majutsu no Index. It features a series of interrelated events occurring in Academy City during Vento of the Front's attempt to search and kill Kamijou Touma, who has now become an enemy of God and the Roman Catholic Church; and Accelerator's struggle to protect Last Order, as he fights against his former mentor Kihara Amata.
In-universe it is called the 0930 Incident, an event that would influence several other events and story arcs to come later in the series, and would be the primary trigger for the final arc of the Toaru Majutsu no Index series before New Testament. This is most notably due to the now apparent hostility between the two sides after the events of the arc as well as the acknowledgment of the existence of "magic", and the ever increasing presence of Kamijou Touma and his Imagine Breaker in magic side affairs.

Skill-Out Uprising[]
The Skill-Out Uprising are a series of events carried out by Komaba Ritoku's Skill-Out gang, and would have culminated in Skill-Out's disabling Academy City's communication network allowing them to attack target espers.
The plan fails after the death of Komaba Ritoku and the turning over of power of his gang to Hamazura Shiage. However, the entire purpose of the plan was later carried out by Accelerator after Ritoku's death.
Document of Constantine Arc[]

The Document of Constantine Arc is a major story arc of the Toaru Majutsu no Index series. The arc concerns with Kamijou Touma being sent to Avignon, France, in order to negate the power of the titular artifact, which is being used by the Roman Catholic Church to turn the world against Academy City. However, in order to get to the artifact, he must face Terra of the Left of God's Right Seat.

Battle Royale Arc[]
The Battle Royale Arc is a major story arc of the Toaru Majutsu no Index series. It is the first arc known not to even feature a physical appearance of Kamijou Touma, and instead focuses on Accelerator and introduces Hamazura Shiage from the first side story volume as a major protagonist. The arc deals with the conflicts of the underground organizations of Academy City and the Level 5 espers among them, revealing number 2 Kakine Teitoku of School, who wishes to displace Accelerator as the strongest, and the number 4 Mugino Shizuri of Item, who sees Kakine as her major rival.

Acqua of the Back Arc[]
The Acqua of the Back Arc is a major story arc of the Toaru Majutsu no Index series. Following the defeats of Vento of the Front and Terra of the Left, Acqua of the Back sends a warning to Academy City and the Church of England that he intents to eliminate Kamijou Touma. In response, the Amakusa-Style Remix of Church comes to Touma's aid, but they find themselves struggling against a man who is not only a member of God's Right Seat, but a Saint as well.

British Royal Family Arc[]
The British Royal Family Arc is a major story arc of the Toaru Majutsu no Index series. The arc focuses on a magical conflict in the United Kingdom, as Second Princess Carissa launches a coup d'état for the throne with the backing of the Knights of England. She is opposed by her younger sister Villian, who has the aid of Necessarius, including Index and Kamijou Touma, the two originally in England to investigate a magical attack on the Eurotunnel.
The end of this arc, as well as the following one, would immediately segue into the final arc of the Toaru Majutsu no Index light novels. In this arc, the end of the civil war is marked with Kamijou's first confrontation with Fiamma of the Right, who had taken advantage of the chaos to steal a relic that controls Index and grants him access to the grimoires in her memory. This is followed by Kamijou leaving Index in the care of Necessarius as he chases after Fiamma into Russia, alone.

DRAGON Arc[]
The DRAGON Arc or the DRAGON(≠Angel) Arc is a major story arc of the Toaru Majutsu no Index series. The arc occurs in parallel to the previous arc, focusing on the happenings in Academy City's dark side. It continues on from the aftermath of the Battle Royale Arc, as Accelerator and Group try to track down the mysterious organization known as DRAGON, while Hamazura Shiage finds himself dodging assassins, ultimately finding himself in another confrontation with Mugino Shizuri, who he had previously defeated.
The end of this arc, as well as the previous one, would immediately segue into the final arc of the Toaru Majutsu no Index light novels. In this arc, Last Order falls ill after the manifestation of Aiwass, the latter later pointing Accelerator towards Russia if he wishes to cure Last Order, while Hamazura rescues Takitsubo Rikou and hijacks a plane that is programmed to go to Russia already.

World War III Arc[]
The World War III Arc is a major story arc of the Toaru Majutsu no Index series. Notably it marks the end of the original Toaru Majutsu no Index light novels. The arc focuses on the three protagonists, Kamijou Touma, Accelerator, and Hamazura Shiage, heading deep into Russia in order to save the one they hold dear just as the entire world plunges into a Third World War. In order to save Index, Kamijou is hunting down the leader of God's Right Seat, Fiamma of the Right, the man who stole the spiritual device that controls Index and has now sparked a global conflict in order to fulfill his ambitions. On the advice of Aiwass, Accelerator is searching for anything involving a "different set of supernatural laws" in order to heal Last Order. Meanwhile, Hamazura is searching for a place that can cure Takitsubo Rikou of Body Crystal poisoning, as well as finding materials to blackmail Academy City with.

Shinyaku Toaru Majutsu no Index[]
Gremlin Arc[]
World War III has concluded and the Dark Side of Academy City has been disbanded. As everyone attempts to return to their normal lives, a new threat has formed in response to the Magic Side's defeat at the hands of the Science Side. Gremlin, a group of Norse Magicians is plotting to go to war against Academy City. The cabal's leader; Othinus wants to return to her former stance as a Magic God and is trying to construct a spiritual item known as Gungnir. As the group goes around the world to construct the mythical spear, they create utter chaos and spread worldwide fear.
Meanwhile, Kamijou Touma has returned. Unfortunately, his luck hasn't gotten any better as he is immediately thrown into battles with Gremlin, who want to kill him and destroy his Imagine Breaker, by Leivinia Birdway; boss of the Dawn Colored Sunlight.
The world is in chaos, but this chaos has brought many forces together. As the Anti-Gremlin Alliance attempt to resolve the chaos, Gungnir is nearing closer and closer to completion. Touma is in a situation that changes who he is at his core and a threat that could destroy the world is about to rear its ugly head.
Meanwhile, Academy City's dark side still exists and the appearance of Gremlin has kick started a new project known as the Agitate Halation Project, centering on Fremea Seivelun; Frenda's sister, and all of Academy City's "heroes" can't help but protect her.
Freshmen Arc[]
The Freshmen Arc is a story arc introduced in Shinyaku Toaru Majutsu no Index. Notably it marks the beginning of the Shinyaku Toaru Majutsu no Index light novels. Here, Accelerator and Hamazura Shiage try to return to normal lives after fighting in World War III, only to be drawn back into the darkness of Academy City with the appearance of Kuroyoru Umidori and the Freshmen. Like the DRAGON arc, Kamijou Touma only appears at the end, revealing his fate after his "death" in the World War III arc.

Homecoming Arc[]
The Homecoming Arc is a story arc introduced in Shinyaku Toaru Majutsu no Index. Notably it immediately picks up where the previous arc ended, namely the defeat of Kuroyoru Umidori and the return of Kamijou Touma. Leivinia Birdway, leader of the Dawn-Colored Sunlight Magic Cabal, has come to introduce Accelerator and Hamazura Shiage to the world of magic, as well as warn the three heroes of a new magical faction known as Gremlin, born from the ashes of World War III.

Baggage City Arc[]
The Baggage City Arc is a major story arc introduced in Shinyaku Toaru Majutsu no Index. It focuses on the events in the titular city as it becomes a battlefield featuring members of Gremlin, the Kihara family, and the participants of the Natural Selector tournament, while Kamijou Touma tries to make up for his actions in Hawaii.

Ichihanaran Festival Arc[]
The Ichihanaran Festival Arc is a major story arc introduced in Shinyaku Toaru Majutsu no Index. The events of the arc begin the day before the Ichihanaransai, and continue throughout the festival the day after, in mid-November.
It deals with the conflict surrounding Gremlin, led by Othinus, and a group of incredibly powerful magicians, lead by Ollerus, centered around the mysterious being named Fräulein Kreutune, who resides in the Windowless Building, the final ingredient in Othinus' plan in creating Gungnir and forever distorting the world. Moreover, it also deals with the reaction of Academy City, and the conflict that arose after Kakine Teitoku returns and joins the foray.

Agitate Halation Arc[]
The Agitate Halation Arc is a story arc introduced in Shinyaku Toaru Majutsu no Index. It occurs sometime in mid-November of the first year of the main story after the events of the Ichihanaransai in Academy City.
The story arc centers primarily around Fremea Seivelun, who is the linchpin of the plans concocted by Yakumi Hisako, a member of Academy City's Board of Directors, that on the surface tries to create a world without heroes: the Agitate Halation Project.

Magic God Othinus Arc[]
The Magic God Othinus Arc is a major story arc introduced in Shinyaku Toaru Majutsu no Index. Initially, this story arc follows on from the previous arcs, with Gremlin having acquired everything they need to forge Gungnir, which will unify Othinus' infinite possibilities, making her unstoppable. In response to this threat, various factions prepare to attack Gremlin's base in Sargasso to prevent the completion of the spear and the likely end of the world. However, the strength of the world fails and Othinus destroys and recreates the universe with Gungnir. Here, the story arc then focuses greatly on Kamijou Touma's character, as he withstands Othinus' torturing him via creating new layers of the world and recreating it many times over. Eventually, it reaches the point that they alone can understand each other in the shifting and fluctuating world that Othinus has created, and later, due to Othinus caring for Touma returns the world back to normal. Finally, the story arc returns to Touma's world before Othinus destroyed it and follows their journey to save Othinus and turn her back into becoming a human as the fairy spell that Ollerus used on her is slowly killing her. The arc primarily focuses on Touma and Othinus, but shows the overall effects of their actions on the world and its responses to them.

Fall of Academy City Arc[]
After the defeat of Gremlin and Magic God Othinus, Aleister Crowley is almost ready to put his plan into action. He just has to deal with the Magic Gods of the true Gremlin, who want to make Kamijou Touma their "scorer", first. However, Aleister isn't the only one who wants to defeat the Magic Gods. Their recent doubts in Touma have caused the power known as World Rejector, which banishes those with conflicting ideals to a "new world", to manifest in the right hand of a "normal high school boy" named Kamisato Kakeru. Kamisato is surrounded by over 100 unique girls known as the Kamisato Faction, who's association with him he hates and blames on his right hand. Seeking revenge on the Magic Gods, he and his faction infiltrate Academy City and targets the true Gremlin and Othinus, now a 15 centimeter fairy living with Touma and Index. Unfortunately, he also started trouble with Kihara Yuiitsu and their clash thrown Aleister's plans off track just as he got them back on track.
Academy City has been thrown into chaos. Catastrophe after catastrophe occur and each time things are looking better, more trouble occurs, all while Laura Stuart taunts Aleister in the background. He is now struggling to resolve all the problems and act on his master plan. But with Misaka Mikoto in possession of his Magic God killing Powered Suit; the Anti-Art Attachment and the conflict between Kamisato and Yuiitsu heating things up, will the Board Chairman's Plans ever be achieved?
Mental Out Arc[]
The Mental Out Arc is a story arc introduced in Shinyaku Toaru Majutsu no Index. It occurs sometime in late-November of the first year of the main story after the events of the of Magic God Othinus Arc.
The story arc centers primarily around the Level 5 Shokuhou Misaki, who finds herself trying to uncover a plot against her targeting her memories of Kamijou Touma.

The World Rejecter Arc is a story arc introduced in Shinyaku Toaru Majutsu no Index. It occurs on the night of December 3rd of the first year of the main story.
The story arc involves a clash between Kamijou Touma and Kamisato Kakeru, the bearer of the World Rejecter who is targeting the Magic Gods, with the two also becoming involved in another clash, one between the two Birdway sisters.

Salome Arc[]
The Salome Arc is a story arc introduced in Shinyaku Toaru Majutsu no Index. It occurs between December 4th - 6th of the first year of the main story.
With their school unusable following the High Priest's rampage, Touma and his classmates move to another school to continue lessons. Once there, Touma finds that Kamisato Kakeru has also transferred to this school. Meanwhile, Kamisato's sister, the Mass Murderer Salome, arrives in Academy City with her eyes on the Kamijou Faction.

Element Arc[]
The Element Arc is a story arc introduced in Shinyaku Toaru Majutsu no Index. It occurs between December 7th - 9th of the first year of the main story.

Operation Handcuffs Arc[]
The Operation Handcuffs Arc is a story arc in Souyaku Toaru Majutsu no Index, also occurring on December 25th of the first year of the main story.
Shirai Kuroko, who was hoping to enjoy the Christmas festivities with her roommate, finds herself assisting Anti-Skill carrying out in Operation Handcuffs. However, contrary to the plans of the new Board Chairman, it has become a violent conflict between Anti-Skill and the members of the Dark Side of Academy City, leading to Hamazura Shiage and Takitsubo Rikou looking for a way to escape the chaos. Not helping matters is the distribution of a new product from R&C Occultics.
This arc is the second one to not feature an appearance by Kamijou Touma. Instead, it features Shirai Kuroko and Hamazura Shiage as the focus characters, the former for the second time following the Tree Diagram Remnant Arc.

On December 31st, with his home situation dire, Kamijou Touma decides he must find part-time work in order to obtain enough money to survive until January 4th, and following the invitation of Kumokawa Seria, ventures outside of Academy City and into Shibuya. However, his previous adventure with Alice and the change it caused in her, has made him a target of her fellow Transcendents in the Bridge Builders Cabal, the group split between how to deal with the matter. On the side wishing to eliminate him, the witch goddess Aradia attempts to take Touma's life, with the boy only surviving her initial attack due to the intervention of the Bologna Succubus, on the side wishing to keep him alive for now.

The arc focuses on the ordeals of Misaka Mikoto after discovering the existence Misaka clones that are being used in the Level 6 Shift, an experiment where they are killed as so Accelerator can achieve Level 6. The Railgun retelling fleshes out Mikoto's struggles, featuring her early attempts to shut down the project, with the Dark Side group Item being sent out to stop her.
