Sukezawa Sena (助澤世菜?) is a student of Tokiwadai Middle School who appears in Toaru Kagaku no Railgun. She was a member of the Mikagami Clique, one year before the main story.[1]

Sukezawa has a fear of frogs, the result of a frog outbreak at her family resort's lake during her childhood, and also dislikes frog mascots.[1]
While she and Kadosaka Rina like and seek the benefits of Mikagami Nagisa's ability, they are both loyal and care for her beyond that.[2][4] After an outburst from her, they sought to make up for the stress they ended up putting on her.[4]

When Sukezawa was a child, the lake at her family resort suffered a frog outbreak, resulting in her becoming afraid of frogs.[1]
At some point in the past, Kadosaka and Sukezawa did Mikagami's hair up in her current ribbon.[4]

Railgun Past Arc[]

Sukezawa was present at Mikagami's side when she encountered Misaka Mikoto for the first time, along with Sha Danshan and Hasekura Reiri.[6]

Around the time tensions were rising between the Mikagami and Hasekura cliques, with several skirmishes having occurred, Sukezawa and Kadosaka were with Mikagami, bringing up and offering sweets. As Mikagami was considering apologizing to the other clique to settle things, the two rejected that course of action as it would be the same as saying they were at fault for the initial incident, both vowing to protect her before asking for a few favors with her ability, though Mikagami had already started to leave.[2][3] The two accompanied Mikagami, seemingly oblivious to her worries and internal dismay at how things had turned out.[3]
Not long afterwards, as the three were walking together, they were attacked by Yasutoba Suika, who sought to crush the Mikagami clique's leader. After briefly getting away from the assailant, Mikagami urged the two to go a different way to her as she was the target, and ended up shouting to them as they refused, venting her feelings regarding her ability and the circumstances it had caused. After Mikagami left, hoping they would get to safety, the two lingered behind. Knowing the stress they and others had been putting Mikagami under, the two chose to stand in Yasutoba's way to make up for it. They were ultimately defeated, but remained defiant and refused Yasutoba's demand to call for Mikagami.[4] However when Yasutoba moved to strike them, Mikagami returned to defend the two and began pushing her back.[4][5] Yasutoba attempted to rattle Mikagami with comments regarding her clique, silencing the two when they tried to speak, but Mikagami was not rattled and proceeded to finish her off with a body slam.[5]
Sukezawa and Kadosaka were present near Mikagami as she announced to her clique the temporary truce with Hasekura in light of a possible external culprit, and quietened objections from members with words and a promise for use her ability for each member if the culprit being caught.[7]
When the Mikagami and Sha cliques reinforced the Hasekura clique in a raid on the headquarters of Montgolfier, the culprit behind the attacks that instigated and aggravated the clique conflict, Sukezawa was involved in the resulting battle with Montgolfier's operatives and their prototype weapons.[8][9]
After the conflict was resolved, Sukezawa and the rest of the clique received beauty treatments from Mikagami as she had promised (in Sukezawa's case, a substantial increase in bust size), though by October she was among those who were regretting their choices and asking Mikagami to fix their respective problems.[10]
Abilities[]
Sukezawa is a Level 3 esper capable of utilizing calcium. By taking calcium supplements, she can reinforce her bones and teeth, and using calcium in soil, she can create weapons and armor.[4][1][8]
Trivia[]
- In the magazine release of Chapter 132, her hair was a darker color. It was changed by Chapter 134, and the version of Chapter 132 in Volume 17 was changed accordingly.[6]
