The Zashiki Warashi of Intellectual Village (インテリビレッジの座敷童, Interibirejji no Zashiki Warashi^?) is a light novel series authored by Kamachi Kazuma and illustrated by Mahaya, published by ASCII Media Works under the Dengeki Bunko imprint. The Zashiki Warashi of Intellectual Village revolves around Jinnai Shinobu who has the strange trait to attract Youkai. The series is currently complete at 9 volumes.

It has been featured in the Toaru Majutsu no Index light novels as they share the same author and publisher.

Plot

Intellectual Villages are old fashioned rural villages recreated with cutting edge technology. Those villages attract the Japanese monsters known as Youkai. The high school boy Jinnai Shinobu lives in one of those villages and has a Zashiki Warashi living in his house. He tends to run across Youkai with unnerving frequency and this often leads to trouble for him.

Principal Characters

• Jinnai Shinobu (陣内 忍, Jinnai Shinobu^?) - Shinobu has had the strange trait to attract and befriend Youkai and other supernatural creatures.
• Zashiki Warashi Yukari (座敷童・縁, Zashiki Warashi Yukari^?) - Yukari is a Zashiki Warashi who attached to Jinnai Shinobu's household and are said to protect the house and bring good fortune.
• Uchimaku Hayabusa (内幕 隼, Uchimaku Hayabusa^?) - Hayabusa has a peculiar trait that often causes him to be antagonized by Youkai.
• Hishigami Mai (菱神 舞, Hishigami Mai^?) - A freelance agent who specializes in Youkai-related crimes.

While Hamazura Shiage and Kinuhata Saiai were sitting at a café near Fremea Seivelun's student dormitory in School District 13, a small portion of the second volume of The Zashiki Warashi of Intellectual Village cover along with pamphlet of Toaru Majutsu no Index Movie: Miracle of Endymion was featured in color illustration.

Mental Out Arc

Shokuhou Misaki watched a restaurant commercial which introduced in a section before the start of the Prologue, which was a reference to The Zashiki Warashi of Intellectual Village.

Processor Suit Arc

One of the fighting games at the arcade where Accelerator and Mina go is said to be a Youkai battle game, where a Zashiki Warashi, Yuki Onna and other characters fight one another (either by punching or grabbing the other's hair), a reference to The Zashiki Warashi of Intellectual Village.
