Thomas Platinumburg (also spelled as Platinaburg) is one of the 12 Directors of Academy City, and is the one funding the group ITEM. He once was injured gravely by Accelerator in Volume 13, and thus hired a mercenary named Stephanie Gorgeouspalace to assassinate him in Volume19, though Stephanie found out that one of her friends was injured by one of the ITEM members and that he was the one financing ITEM and decided to assassinate him instead.
He was described as someone who's life has a been perfect "smooth sailing" filled with success and opportunities everywhere, though his luck started to change when the Accelerator invaded his home and attacked him for the sake of accessing the Banks. He is been known to be involved in Academy's City Dark Side, and has a bulletproof vest at hand along with a large security staff when he is at home.
