On September 19th 2019, it will be ten years since the Toaru Majutsu no Index Wiki was launched. Although we've got quite a lot on our plate already, I thought it might be an idea for us to do a little something to commemorate the occasion. I'm not sure what form it will take (e.g. countdown and banner on the front page, special background image or logo, blog post, featured article update etc), but it is less than 2 weeks until then and it might take some time to prepare, so it'd be best if we discuss and decide soon.
Thanks Herald. I haven't got anything particularly solid in mind at the moment, but if you could make an adjustment so that it indicates the 10th anniversary while still fitting the style you made for it then that'd be good.
P.S. Ollerus suggested a blog post for the history of the Toaru Majutsu no Index Wiki earlier. I thought it might be a good idea but I have doubts as to whether it could be done in the time left and I don't think it would be something that I could do alone. A decision hasn't been made yet but if we do make one, would you be able to help?
I suppose we'd have to rely on the history logs and our own memories if we were to attempt a detailed version, though we don't really have enough time to do so...
Side-Note: Briefly wondered about adapting an element from Kamachi's 10th Anniversary logo into our own one, but I doubt whether it would fit as it is. Currently thinking about the banner and big poll post ideas.
I'm leaning towards the third, just like how the 10th Anniversary of Index looked like.
I'll try getting it done within the day, but I have yet to start converting my logo project from PSD to SVG for better clarity.
EDIT: Here's my initial submission for the 10th anniversary wordmark.
I went with the similar thought as mentioned before, but since kanji don't flow like Western letters, the "years" ended up on top of the numbers. The gold is derived from the Magic Side pentagram, while the blue is taken from the Science Side atom model.
It looks good to me Herald, but I've just realized that there was another factor I'd forgotten about - there are dimension limits on the wordmarks which can be uploaded in the Theme Designer (I haven't verified what the maximum values are yet but I can't get it to accept the initial version above for a test view).
Although the other suggestions weren't done in time for the anniversary and there's been a delay since then, I was thinking of perhaps completing them along with others so that we have 10 items to commemorate our 10th anniversary, in a similar way to Kamachi's one. However, I wasn't sure as to what would/should qualify for those 10 slots (for one collectively or separately).
So far we've had the new Featured Article, the anniversary logo and the anniversary message, which I think would qualify. The countdown from earlier I don't think would qualify, and I don't think the tweaks to the front page would either (they weren't up to the level of a banner). As for the paused megapoll idea, I wasn't sure, if it were to be done (for a bit of fun), whether multiple such posts (for example, separate posts for the novels/anime ones) should together be counted as just one or not.
Do you reckon we should try for ten or just leave it with what we've done so far? If the former, what do you reckon would qualify for a slot?
It is just my opinion, but 10 slots are too much for us to celebrate 10th anniversary. Also we don't have to hurry about this. Even in Kamachi's 10th anniversary, they had spent whole year to celebrate it.
For megapoll idea, why don't you separate OT/NT/SS, choose top 5 of each poll, and take run-off voting. For mobile main page of wikia, can you update featured article?
Had an idea for two additional possible items; an 'on this day...' bit on the front page in a similar manner to 'Did you know?' and an advent calendar for December (wonder if an automatic reveal code could be made for the latter or if it would have to be done manually).
