Toaru Kagaku no Accelerator (とある科学の一方通行 (アクセラレータ) , Toaru Kagaku no Ippō Tsūkō^?, lit., A Certain Scientific Accelerator) is the fifth manga series that is based off the Toaru Majutsu no Index franchise. Carrying the "Scientific" title of the series, it is like Toaru Kagaku no Railgun as unlike the Toaru Majutsu no Index Manga, which is an adaptation of the light novels, the Toaru Kagaku no Accelerator manga is an original side story written by Kamachi Kazuma himself. Artwork is done by Yamaji Arata and was serialized on December 27, 2013 in Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh with its sister-series Toaru Kagaku no Railgun.

Seven Seas Entertainment would later license the manga. An anime was announced on October 7, 2018, to air in 2019.

Background

The events of the manga feature Accelerator after his defeat at the hands of Kamijou Touma and the gunshot wound that he received at the hands of Amai Ao, with the first chapter serving as his first meeting with Yomikawa Aiho.

The manga's announcement coincided with the Toaru Kaki no Campaign. Moreover, a teaser for it was released by Dengeki, alongside a teaser for the 8th Shinyaku Toaru Majutsu no Index light novel volume.
