- This chapter was the last chapter of Toaru Kagaku no Mental Out released on Comic Newtype's individual website, prior to the platform's merge into Kadokawa's KadoComi/Comic Walker website (on which it would be retained as an imprint).
- As noted in side text at the end of the chapter, a true combination attack by Misaka Mikoto and Shokuhou Misaki (something discussed and dismissed during the chapter) would appear during the events of Shinyaku Toaru Majutsu no Index Volume 18.[1]

- Kamino provides Shokuhou with a product from Akaneno Confectionery (京菓子の茜野 Kyōgashi no Akaneno?). Kyo-gashi (京菓子) is a Japanese-style confectionery from Kyoto.

- During Gaouin's explanation about the Pride Left (
名誉の手袋 Meiyo no Tebukuro (Puraido Refuto)?, lit. "Gloves of Honor"), with regards to how it is basically a duel, a pair of pistols and a white glove are depicted in the background. Throwing a glove or gauntlet to the ground before someone (or slapping them with it) is one of the symbolic gestures that indicates a challenge to a duel. Pistols were some of the weapons of choice for duels.- Items associated with several other means of competition are also depicted in the background beforehand; a pair of fencing foils, six playing cards (including the Four of Spades, Ten and Queen of Clubs, Seven of Diamonds, Joker and the Jack of Hearts) and items for chess (a chessboard and two chess pieces; a black knight and a white queen).
- When Gaouin suggests a joint attack by the Level 5s, Mikoto compares the idea to the attacks performed by tokusatsu heroes. In the background, two shadowed scarf-wearing figures are depicted performing a diving kick together, likely referencing Kamen Rider and the Rider Double Kick.
- While struggling with Shokuhou and exchanging suggestions for combination attacks (mainly with one forcibly using the other as a booster or tank rather than working together), Mikoto considers using Shokuhou's moisture control for electrolysis in order to fire a hydrogen maser. A maser is a device which produces coherent electromagnetic waves through amplification by stimulated emission, a precusor to the laser and operating on the same principles. The term 'maser' is an acronym for 'microwave amplification by stimulated emission of radiation', though modern masers can also generate waves at radio and infrared frequencies.
