Tochtli (トチトリ Tochitori?) is a minor character in Toaru Majutsu no Index. She is a member of the Return of the Winged One and is usually regarded as Xochitl's partner.[2][3][4]
Etymology
A famous name[5] in Nahuatl, the Aztec language, Tochtli means "rabbit".
Appearance
Tochtli is described as a brown-skinned girl around 15 years old.[1]

Tochtli used a Mixcoatl to retrieve the stranded Xochitl from Liberal Arts City, noting how Saten Ruiko was kind and seemed genuinely worried over Xochitl.[6]
Later, when the fight against Liberal Arts City reached its climax, she chose to support Xochitl's stance of allowing the leaving civilians to evacuate, rejecting their direct orders, even though this meant fighting off people from her own cabal who were obediently following orders.[7]
After the battle, she and Xochitl were punished by the cabal,[7][4] with Tochtli being rendered unable to think and being taken by Tecpatl to use her bones as raw materials for his grimoire's projectiles.[4]

Tochtli was seen recovering, interned in the same hospital and staying in the same room as Xochitl. During Etzali's visit, she jokingly pointed out how his presence was of great help to them. She seemed to quite easily read Xochitl mood swings and her feelings towards Etzali, and she used them to "add fuel to the fire" of their arguments.[5] Tochtli also called Etzali "onii-chan", however it seems that she did this only to get on Xochitl's wrong side rather than out of affection towards Etzali.
Magic God Othinus Arc

In the final recreation of the world by Othinus created specifically to break Touma's spirit, known as the Version_Omega world in-text, where several characters from the original world have been "saved" or have not experienced great tragedy, people from the magic side like nuns are allowed to enter Academy City, and seemingly have no complex against science. Etzali, Xochitl, and Tochtli are first seen by Kamijou Touma during his "last meal" as he decides on what method he should have himself killed. Here, Xochitl asks Etzali what they should do now, but he replies that she should ask Tochtli as she was the one who heard the commotion. Tochtli then complains on how Etzali is forcing it on her as she says that Xochitl is practically his little sister. It is unknown what commotion Etzali is referring to, but is likely the festival that is happening at that time.[9]
Abilities
Tochtli's exact abilities aren't clear, though she is capable of using the appearing-borrowing charm common to the Return of the Winged One and can fly a Mixcoatl.[1][6]
